Right off of the ICW near Birch park in Ft Lauderdale! Literally walking distance to the water or a 2 min drive over the bridge with the yak. I am sold but I have to sell the old lady on it too ^^....that or find a new roommate <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Ahh, the sharks a just little spinners and lemons; I have never had an issue with them. I actually enjoy diving with them and am going in a few weeks on tanks to check out the lemons. Though spearing would be impossible as they would nab your catch for sure. I may be moving with a mile of one of the spots I hit so I will be out all the time so whenever man.

Thanks guys, I am probably going to get the GP but I figured it had been out long enough that there would be a solid opinion. I am not in need of having stills blown up so as long as they can be captured with at least decent quality that will display on my computer well then I am good with that; just trying to avoid buyers remorse. What is the issue with the original cases? leaks?

Dan, if I decide to get one do you have them where I can pick it up from you or do they need to be ordered? I have a few kayak camping/fishing trips coming up and wanted to get one in the next few weeks if I go that way.

Pretty amazing man, swimming in balls of bait like that is always a strange but awesome experience. I saw a massive number of ballyhoo being slammed by a huge school of jack at the beach Saturday; they where chasing them up onto the shore and bubbling the water.

I am hoping to do a dive (scuba) with some lemon sharks next month as there annual migration is now as well. I have done this before and it was pretty epic. Glad you got to experience that.

I am considering buying a GoPro and wanted to get some feedback. Is it worth the money? How easily are stills taken from the video? I have found a few waterproof cameras that do both stills and video for similar price; not sure they have the same depth rating as the GP case though. But anyway..

    pros....

    cons...

    Judah, thoughts on yours?

    Thanks.

I have never speared in Boynton, I think the reefs are farther out then down here. The Ft Lauderdale reefs are an easy swim and in pretty shallow. Do you boat/kayak/shore dive? I do the yak and shore dives here; your always welcome to join in.

    Welcome to the forum.

very cool capt, thanks for sharing your experience. I might have to save up to take one of these, I am pretty happy with the way I have my gear dialed in (large thanks to Dan for the Speardiver gear and help w my tito) so I can devote the funds to this

Let me know when your planning this I may be down to take it at the same time. My gun kills fish fine and I think I'd rather open my hunting grounds up a bit before upgrading gear anyway. That and the safety issues and know how would be invaluable.

as i was swimming at him, which lasted about .062 seconds I was thinking to myself, "this is never gonna work, everyone was just teasing that this is the right thing to do..." and before i finished the thought he was turning away. I was really stoked to be around such a huge animal but I was alert first, stoked second.

I wish you could have heard the sound of my fin shaking...like wompwompwompwomp hahaha

I bet man. First time I did it was with a shark of similar size to yours. Couldn't have lasted more than 2 seconds but when your playing chicken with a big shark that seems like eternity. The swim back is always interesting, trying to be quick yet remain calm so to not take on a stance of prey evading being eaten. When I got back on board my hands where shaking so bad I could barely get my BC off. I wonder if that always works with Bulls since they are pretty aggressive sharks? I guess the same question could hold for a few aggressive species like tigers.

Damn bro, that had to be sick. Glad you handled it well and made it back in one piece. I have had a few run in with sharks and still get nervous as hell; not sure I ever wont. Good job though, most people I don't think would swim at a shark; I did it once and my GF (who was diving with me) about shat herself.

I actually was looking at the Euro X Series from Riffe as that is about what I was looking for. Ben, I love the Andre guns (look, never shot one) but pushing $500 may be a tad out of my budget (you know how it is being a full time student); though I may just have to suck it up and spend the cash. Judah, my gun still works and kills fish, I just want to upgrade; but good looking out bro. I have never heard of anyone freediving with the ocean Rhino's though; I may have to stop in and talk with Kevin while I am back in the Tampa area. How is the gun selection at Florida Freedivers? Never been over there and would like to be able to check out a few different guns. Or if anyone knows another shop in the area with more than what Diver's Direct carries.

Yea, Dan's is pretty sick. I was looking at the deathstick guns, Biller and Riffe's since they have the mid handle series and there standard even has about the length I am looking for. I really wish Ocean Rhino made a freedive compatible gun; they are just too bulky but I love those guns.

OK, so I am currently shooting an old JBL magnum but want to upgrade in the next few months. I have shot several other types of guns and know that I don't like the Euro type as much mainly because I enjoy the longer butt stock (not sure if that is the proper terminology or not) on the American guns mainly because I prefer hip loading. I can chest load pretty easily but just like the hip load better and with the shorter euro butt stock it is a PITA to do. I have shot ocean rhino, which is my favorite but more for scuba than freediving, Riffe, JBL, and a few others. I think I would prefer a wooden gun vs a tube gun as well but if there were a euro/tube gun with the extended stock I would take a look. I am not going to have tons of cash to throw into it but would like to get a decent gun. I just wanted to get opinions on makes/models for me to consider when making my selection. Thanks.

Wish we would have had that same vis man, it went from bad to worse just a little North of there. Still managed a hog though and Ben got decent grouper and a lion fish. Glad I got in if we aren't going to for a while. Just that time of year I guess.
