They were solid and well built and the gun of choice down under many years ago. The first ones had metal
triggers assembly's and plastic handles that that Jay Riffe built his first guns around over 30 years ago.

Yes it is a decent gun if the plastic sear housing is not overpowered heavily.

    Thanks Don.

Anyone ever use one of these? One on sale for $250 a buddy of mine is looking at and I have never used one. He is just getting into spearing and trying to find a decent gun. They are an Aussie Company. I didn't find any reviews online. Thanks

Apnea walking? Is that just doing the breathing exercises while walking or simulating breathing patterns you would do while diving when walking? I plan on diving a lot but anything extra helps. Longer I can stay down, the more fish I can shoot. :cool2:

OK, I am new to free diving and I know that this has been posted a hundred times on here but with the large amount of info, some of it being a tad dated, and many of the threads diverging a bit from the original topic I have found it difficult to get a clear picture. So at the risk of redundancy; I am trying to find info on exercises to increase my depth and bottom times. I am a runner and swimmer so my lung capacity is decent from the start but I know that this differs from training ones body to deal with a surplus/deficit in CO2/O2 respectively. So far these are the exercises I have found. They are similar to some I have done for lifeguard training but I am curious as to how to progress through them so to increase my ability. Any other info on this like books, websites, etc are also appreciated. I am trying to do this safely as many times I will probably be doing this solo after I get the hang of it. Thanks. :toast: Slainte.

    O2:

    - Hold 1.5 min
    - Recover 2 mins

    - Hold 2.5 mins
    - Recover 2 mins
    - Hold 3 mins
    - Recover 2 mins
    - Hold 3.5 mins
    - Recover 2 mins
    -end with a max effort

I am doing mostly shallow reef diving (< 70') mostly in the 20'-30' range from the beach or my kayak. Currently I just have the basic line set up on my gun which works well for SCUBA but with free diving I am thinking that a FL or a reel would work better. I have not used either in the past so have little knowledge on the two but it seems as if the reel would be nice for keeping all of the line in one place so it's not an obstacle in the water such as with a FL. I still do some deeper SCUBA spearing as well and want to find a method that works well for both; though I am considering free shafting when on SCUBA. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks. :toast:

I am a long time SCUBA guy (don't judge) but am just getting my feet wet in spearing. So far I can see this is going to be pretty addictive and can't wait to get out again. After hitting up the Blue Wild Expo and talking with people from different forums I am already picking up quite a bit. I have been a few times and tagged a few decent fish including a nice Mutton. Though it has all been on SCUBA I am ready to to get out on freediving. I am in Plantation Florida. Look forward to seeing you guys out there. :toast:
