A punch to a person(s) brain-stem would put most everyone on there ass. . .

    I disagree with the
“Those people go there to watch a competition, they are not prepared for a real fight.”
I’m surprised someone didn’t jump that sensei and beat his ass that second.

People are VERY passionate about there fighters. In to many tournaments to count that I have judged even ones that were more of a family atmosphere. If they don’t agree with judges ruling or if they “think” they saw something that 5 other judges didn’t see they let you know, get in your face and start the tough guy push that lead to all out conflict. Not to mention parents fighting each other. . .

Clarification: the audience in most these types of fights are not your everyday spectators. They are mostly filled with trained martial artist (fighters) or people very closely affiliated with martial arts. The likelihood for things to escalate if one person makes a dumass move is very high.

I always here talk of how spearfishermen in Cuba use “Homemade Pneumatic spearguns”.
I’m curious about this because creating the seals and such seems imposable with the given tools they my have. Pneumatic are very exacting instruments from what I gather.

When you guys refer to “homemade” is this from scratch or do they use a broken used Pneumatic and improve upon it?

Have any of us on here created such a device from scratch?

I think seeing a step by step would be a great contribution. . .

    Thanks,

You got it wrong Larry. My whole setup camera and case was $300 total and that was a year ago. You should be able to get it for $250 with a little searching.

    WHATTTTT!!!!!!!!!

    That’s crazy. .. .I need better vendors.

I started looking into this last night for friend that’s buying camera. All I was finding was these 400-500 dollar setups on the low end with crazy 800+ setups on the high end it seemed ridiculous to me.

    Was this new/used? Best Buy?

    Back on the SeaLife,
I understand the not trusting “waterproof camera” I also have my doubts after a drop on concrete or two. But for the money (DC600 $189 at “River Marine” in Miami) it seems like such a deal.
The small size works well for mounting on a gun.

I just wanted to bring it up as an alternative to buying a camera$300.00 and housing$150.00= $450.00 or a right nut. . .
I do like the fact that Dan’s setup can be used in and out of the water and fit nicely in a pocket out of its housing.

Around 10am I arrived at Chris’s house in key largo, then Stephen and Jason got there a little later. We headed offshore toward Pickles area. Expecting bad vis we planned on checking out some blue water action. Didnt even stop on the reef as vis was horrible. Depth recorder said 15' and we could barely see color changes. The decision was made to hunt mahi. We cruised around looking for weeds, debris, birds etc... We found some weird water color changes in 400'. The water went from purple to green. If we didn’t know better, it looked as if we were on a murky 15' deep spot.

We found a weedline in the murky water and Stephen jumped in. He said he couldnt see the tip of his gun. We quickly moved on. We continued to check weedlines and whatever we could find. No sign of our target. We did happen to find a bucket floating which I jumped in to take out an ocean trigger. While we were cruising around out there we saw a boat on fire with a large coast guard ship close by. We were in about 500-600' of water. Not sure if it was some type of drill or what. The coast guard ship was already there before the fire started???

Just when we were heading back in toward the reef, and upset about the lack of action, we found another weedline and saw some action. When we got there we say "Dolphin!!!" 3 divers in the water like lightning. We got into a school of 15"-30" dolphin. Myself, Stephen and Jason were having a field day while Chris threw in pilchards and glass minnows to keep the dolphin frisky. After getting 5 or so in the boat, I traded places with Chris so he can shot some fish.

A boat of h&l fisherman was close by and they were pretty cool. Myself and Stephen then switched places and Stephen was driving the boat. As I and Chris were chasing the school around taking more fish (was involed a lot of very fast swimming) I saw a nice sized cow that was not part of the school swim by. I nailed it. It was a surprising fight pulling me down before I knew it.

While me and Chris were in the water a fuel line got a hole in it on the boat. The H&L boat came and offered to pick up Chris saved him a verrry long swim back to the boat so he could make the repairs. he got the fuel line fixed and gave one of our fish to the h&l boat for being good sports. It was funny because one of the fish he shot had a hook in its mouth, and probably was a fish that they had on the line. They said they lost one. So he gave them thier fish back

Total take was 14 mahi, 1 ocean trigger.
We stopped by crocker reef45’ on the way back in and vis was about 5'

The cow went 42” to the fork and 21pounds.
Also she had a 14” mahi in her stomach just the outer skin was digested.

I was thinking that you wouldn’t allow the non-slip to enter the slot to not have to make changes to the original mold.

Some solution I think may work are
-skid –tex can be added to any paint color, but I’m not sure how long paint will hold on to the lead)
-also there’s this powder at home-depot it’s white (no not that type of white powder) it comes in a small 4”x 5” bag you add it to a can of paint to make the paint non-slip. I used it on commercial flooring and two years later it’s still holding up. .if anyone swings by home depot check it out. I’ll pass by tomorrow and try and find it. . .

This is something that popped in my head this morning.
"Tin Man" have you ever tried applying some sort of rubber coating to the weights (rino liner or something of the sorts)? To make them more like the rubber coated weights.

The reason I bring this up is because we use them on rubber belts correct? We use rubber belts for there non-slip properties? But when you apply a roll/a lot of lead weights you lose those non-slip properties that we seem to enjoy.

Purpose - It would be ecstatically pleasing and it will keep the non-slip properties of using a rubber belt. .

Do others see this as an issue/ or have any ideas on how some sort of rubber coating may be applied?

Yeah its speed walking, but the Olympic people call it race walking.
I understand the reasoning behind there funky posturing.
But I don’t understand how some of these events are even in the Olympics.

To me the Olympics started as a place where the world’s best warriors and people that could push there body’s the most would come to compete, yet having every event have its practical side in real world. Running, swimming, sealing, bow’s, javelin throw, fighting, etc. They all go back to being a warrior and such. Not two people playing ping pong.. . I think it’s just gone very far from where it started.

I ended up getting a bad ear infection and have been glued to the Olympics and work.

I’m seated here watching “Race Walking 31miles” WTF how did this ever become an Olympic sport?
-they are judged on them keeping form. Such as keeping legs straight.:hi:

There's something very wrong in the process when events such as this and "ping pong"... are in there and mma and others are not.

Well “diver A” was given the shot by “you”, then “you” are the one that recovered the fish AND recovered the shaft that could have ruined “diver A’s” day if he didn’t have a replacement shaft.

So not only should you get the fish but a BIG f’ing THANK YOU for all the work you just put in to recover the shaft and fish.

    A “thumps up” just doesn’t cut it. . .
