I can tell you right now that deep freedivers don't use only their calf muscles to surface from deep dives. Just one example would be Martin Stepanek. He uses a lot more than his calf muscles, and I guarantee his finning is pretty efficient.

I think larger slow kicks are more efficient coming up from depth since you are negative. When your fin is bending, you are moving. Where short kicks back and forth are not efficient because of less bend in blade.
my 2 cents

Dan,
You forgot Jim and Davie :laughing3:
-
Davie, how long is the drive from your place to Marathon?
sorry but that is 3 amigo territory only :nono:

thats an awesome 1/2 day!

i use black silicone. Works great! Im sure 5200 and 4200 work great too. I would try out 4200 first in black of course.
You never need to use screws. :nono:

I love Jim's Myspace Pose! :laughing3:
AJ was shot in 20ft of water under the boat when i jumped in.

i wonder if using silicone orings without oil actually increase the velocity of the spear by 15%. That sounds a lot compared to the normal orings with oil.

Nice fish! :thumbsup2:

When i begin mi ascend, i feel a bit awkward when i start to kick back to the surface, cause my knees and fins are laying flat on the rocks and i waste some precious moments to get the fins stroke on, some times i have to push the rock/bottom with my hands, any advice?
Use your gun to push off bottom. Dont kick off the bottom. Your fins could break if you have carbons. I think fiberglass will not break.
-
Carbon fins will always be the best. They are lighter and more responsive. Think about how much weight difference there is between carbon and fiberglass. Then multiply it by how many fin strokes you have on a daily basis. That is a lot of extra weight!
The ideal carbon fin would be light, great on surface, and good for deep drops. Since most people don't dive past 30m, you really don't need a stiff fin. Your technique will be more important than the stiffness of your carbon fin.

spearos---the pneumatics are starting to sound too complicated / technical for me. Maybe I should just stick to my rubberbands and piece of pipe:D
Once I get the second band rest pin drilled into the top of the shaft 18in. back from the muzzle I'll be happy with my [POS:D] RA set-up.
I imagine it will not be easy drilling the RA shaft for a small pin. I have a Harbor Freight bench type drill press. Anyone ever drilled and pinned a RA shaft before? Pargo suggested a carbide bit. I know I have seen some of the shafts that straight shaft makes that are drilled and pinned. Any experianced suggestions please?Edit--thanks to everyone for their assistance about pneumatics
Davie and i drilled a rob allen shaft like we were drilling wood!

Greek, you´re right, I have not tried the Tovarich (and I could get a kit for free since Ramón Boto is my personal friend), but I am not really interested. At this moment, I think I have the guns I need.I know what you mean. When you have what you need to kill fish, and its doing it well, i wouldn't change either!

MArco you have way too much stuff collecting dust allready, i may be helpful helping you getting rid of that crap
What are the best pneumatics around, and what are their power compared to a band gun ??
I use 115cm seac. I think its the best choice.

Greek,
quick question. You use 9/32" shafts. Did you get your muzzle in 7.14mm or in 7mm. If you got the 7.14mm how do 7mm shafts fit, and if you got the 7mm, how do you 9/32 shafts fit?muzzle is 7.14mm (9/32) on tovarich kit. I think 7mm would work fine too on 7.14mm muzzle. I haven't tested but im sure they would work without leaking. You could always order 7mm if you only plan on shooting 7mm. Since we live in america, i would go for 9/32.

Marco is right about normal pneumatics. Although, i'm betting he hasn't tried a tovarich system on a pneumatic. I love it. Railguns are way more heavy than a pneumatic with a tovarich kit. Aiming is harder on the pneumatic but with practice, its pretty accurate. It shoots very straight and i keep getting more accurate with it.
I'll post more later...

Which motherboard are you using? Didn't know they're worth repairing unless it's a broken fan bracket or something simple like that.
i bought a new motherboard, chip and memory. might as well upgrade.

my motherboard broke and im waiting for the parts to come in next week. I have enough footage for a video.

Cool feature! Although it doesn't play in full screen HD.
