funny i have nearly the same problem..

    hy there,
i decided to build my gun up with the ball cuter from neptonics5/16 which gives me a clearance of 0,5 which is abit less then the ball cuter 11/32 that Wood Guy used in his gun building thread.
ithink it will also fit a 8mm dia. shaft..
and it will fit for the 9/32 shaft as well..

I will use the neptonics reef mech which allows both shafts
    BUT :overkill:

i don t know which shaft will work better..damn
so at the moment it looks like i m gonna buy both sizes and have a try.
Somewhere i read that because of the higher mass a5/16 shaft is able to work with longer distance but tends therefor more to bend if shootn on rocks...
Does one here think this is true?

    creets..

Thank You all , very much. This is "going down like oil" the Krauts say:D

My profession is building VApipes, welding and stuff.. but the most of knifemaking i learned out of only two good books.
But let me tell you some(with my tender 34years ) : It s not that hard to do, and i always had a lot of fun likewise with the learning of that technics and the exotic materials.
I expect you to be a very creative builder since i love the gun building thread from urs and Wood Guy..which is actually affecting me very much.

    Creets,,

i made this the whole stainless, anodised, filed and formed myself. hardened by hardener/industrial 2- 58hrc
    the blade out of 440b.
it s made to be all day carry ,which it works well 4, and has already managed my last saltwater-holiday. after which it became oiled up:@
this one is so far my first folder- "toplock"mechanism alike laguiole style..

    have fun..

    :thumbsup2:
    hy all,

    i m lothar,

i tried spearing in corse the first time, and since that i was building a pole spear with ski sticks and epoxi.
but because i ve got still some teakwood left , i can t get rid off the idea building my own gun. though that small euro gun i bought isn t bad for reef fishing, i d like to have one with accuracy and also one that gives me a new winter project.. because i m german and winter s cold:crazy:
so this is basically how i found this forum... and i really love it.

    greetings,,
