There's been some confusion about whether Mako fiberglass fins are the same as Matrix and Waterway fiberglass fins. Here are pics of each, they're obviously not the same. Matrix and Waterway get their variation in stiffness and flex by machining layers off the fiberglass which is otherwise the same thickness throughout the length of the blade. Fiberglass blades which don't have these cuts get their stiffness and flex by laying up different length layers of fiberglass before everything is fused together. By looking at the Mako blade I can't be sure they use the latter process but it's obvious the blades are not machined. Click on the pics for higher resolution.
