  • Eric here.
Been at it since 1972 and really at it for the last 15.
Live in No Cal and dive between the 48F Sonoma/Mendo coast and the 80+ water of Baja.
Have dove pretty much everywhere, So Pac incl Indo and OZ and NZ, WA to FL. Licensed Unlimited Master, MS in Industrial Tech and a nail banger when things are slow. 180' on air, 820' on gas with stays of 23 days; hey it paid for the kids college tabs... Urchins before the boom, abalone when you could but now it's all about the getting out there with a few friends or myself because I have so few friends and popping a meal. Not a fan of competitions but don't want to put my opinions on others rights; biggest WSB 67#, YFT 180#, pargo 79# and wahoo 57#.
Spend a lot of time in the water with the guy behind speargearshop that's shown me a lot of the nuances and made me a lot better diver technically which means that my enjoyment increased as well.
Build my own guns, boats, houses and breatholds.
Look forward to this place being a LOT less of a exercise in day care than SB.

  • Welcome mate, Please put you monster dog snapper,YFT and WSB in our fish record so we can enjoy the images when you have time. The guys here are more like brothers with a love of the sea. You will fit in great I love your avatar.
Dan in his wisdom has a special place for the kids to play, no daycare needed here on my Cali watch.
    All the best, Don Paul

  • Thanks all.
I think we met a while back out at Farnsworth, Don. A while back as in the early 80's. I was a Neptune with Bill Graham.
And I've seen you Rich at the FreeDive shop meets. Thats a nice first WSB. I'm going to put up a post for you over in that vac bagging your gun stocks.

Wow Bill Graham. !... haven't heard that name in awhile. Do you remember Jack Brown ? he was building the the heavy timber mid handles @ the Navy yard shop I believe. I was just in contact with my old dive partner Mark Lamont from Scuba Pro he's been Mexico for over 15 years and doing well.

    Cheers, Don

  • Yep, familar names fallen out of the years of Xmas lists.
I was a grom but still to this day value being in the water with them. Makes me feel like I did something right when I'm in with my kids.

    Oh, you're THAT Eric?

I remember meeting you at last year's Picasso Open, and I'm glad you made it over to this forum (I still owe you that bottle of Aquafina). I haven't seen you since that day you were doing work for Greg & Vanessa. I think you'll like it over here. There's way less drama on this site and they don't charge you for comercial advertising if you happen to have a spear-related company you're posting about..... ;)

    Thats a nice first WSB.

Thanks man, I'm always looking for yet another excuse to post a picture of my first real fish. You remember Phil (skinny dude on the left)? He's over here also, mostly on the gun builders forum..... :D

  • Nice fish Rick, dam the Phil is a young guy, who is the other guy to your right ?

That looks like a perfect day for water skiing to Cat.:D

    Cheers Don

  • Uh, nope.
    Aquafina?
You're probably refering to my amigo from your other board. He's so not even interested in these boards, it's not even funny. I sent him this link and all I got back was that any board that draws from the same gene pool as guys like MacIntyre or Plossel or wanted mordida from some and gave free reign to others, he'd take a pass. That's putting it nicely.
That WSB of yours went through some of the bigger vac bags! As a first, you might want to give up now and save yourself some grief and go look for YT or tuna.
