Boca Inlet Area

  • I'm interesting in learning and improving my hunting techniques. I'm a certified scuba diver and Level 1 FII. I have been freedive spearfishing in the Bahamas with a polespear for the past 5 years and have just recently entered the freedive spearfishing world right off Boca.

I'm a newbie to spearguns but just purchased my first Riffe. I have a boat, am familiar with the reefs from Deerfield to Boynton from fishing and diving in the area for the past 15 years, and would like to invite those in the area who share the passion of freedive spearfishing to contact me. I'm out on the water when the conditions are right and would like to to hunt with some forum members.

Headed out this weekend, if interested shoot me an email. pursuit2800@yahoo.com

  • Welcome mate, I'm sure you'll here from some guys on here in your area.

    Cheers, Don Paul

  • Good Hook, What was your opinion of FII level 1 course? I just signed up for it and will take it in Jan15.

Great course. I debated whether to start with Level 1 or Level 2. I'm glad I went with Level 1 and have the foundation and more importantly the safety training. You'll learn to push beyond what you do today, but in Level 1 they will limit you to 3 min breath hold and 66ft depth. However, I went out the following weekend with what I learned and was able to do 80ft without pushing it. Level 2 they will do some advanced training and allow you 6 min breath hold and 132ft. Not everyone makes it to the max for each Level, but everyone in my class improved and all were pleased with the course and results. I'm looking forward to Level 2 in the near future. These classes are a great way to improve your hunting and most of the attendees in my class were there for that reason.

  • Great feedback, Thanks!!!:thumbsup2: I also struggled with weather I should go with level I or II but after talking to them I decided to go with Level I and now after reading your review I am glad I did, plus now I really cannot dedicate 4 complete straight days to a diving class.
