    We can try not to lose any spots but we have to be careful that spearfishing isn't tarnished by talk of tear offs, mis id'd and shot fish, overlimit pix, spearos accidentally shooting each other etc. My real fear is that someday spearguns are going to be outlawed.


    Once again I hate to bitch about it but weridboard is going to be a major downfall towards spearos everywhere in california and possibly the u.s.


    Sorry to digress, Don Paul, but I'm still pissed about the closures. RIP Laguna, PV and certain areas on the frontside of cat.

    It is truely the younger generation who will suffer the most. Especially because I have a feeling this is the tip of the iceberg of the bullshit that is coming up later. Increased license fees. More regs on fishing gear. More regs on take and limits. Shit someday it might be some lottery drawing just to see if you get a lobster tag.

    Thank you Brett, I only dove Laguna with my old best friend, who I shared Calico,WSB and bug spots with.
    Trust me when I say there is not a reef, rock or cove I have not hunted from Treasure Island to Abb Pt during the last 32 years. A long time ago I wrote in my will that my clan shall spread my ash's at Moss Pt; my all time favorite spot that I would swim north and south from. I had big dreams my son Dillon would be my dive partner,
    as he is now old enough to share the rocky entry's that have kept my body strong and fit for a life offshore.

    I'm very sorry for you guys too, the young and the old prohibited to spear the rocky coves and reefs of their forefathers. Like a old photograph that ignites fond memory's of a loved one, and what once was, Laguna was
    my home for a long time, always bringing fond thoughts of diving Pacific waters for the first time.


    I have been lying to myself and my son when I told him : '' We will still get to dive all my great spots, but just with a camera''. '' Hunting for a well taken image of a fish with clear water and good composition is harder and just as exciting''. Last night I woke up and remembered I'm am a hunter and not a photographer at heart... it is in my every cell.

    Unlike a traditional RIP post containing for the most part no critique over the cause of death in respect of the living family, I would like to say you can all express yourselves freely here on this post as I will not edit out the pain and frustration that you guys will deal with as the loss becomes real. Please, no threats of poaching or personal injury. Always remember we are ocean loving conservationists/speros that just plain got screwed. The remaining fish and giant bugs in my option, should not be sold out to be true confessions of the big kind, giving exact locations and street names. This will only fuel the unlicensed and the poacher as to where to steal game from.


    I am a dreamer and pray we get a little of our reef back someday.:rolleyes1: Nothing is impossible.
    My son attends school in Laguna Beach and he is very upset he can no longer fish in his back yard .He promised to let me know of any ''brainwashing'' by the system and plans to speak intelligently and with passion about the injustices against us. I have spoken to all that would listen at our Little League games and encounters with parents. Most have no clue or knowledge of the MPlA process and their days of fishing with the kids or pole spearing corbina are gone.:(
