Thanks mate, I still have wire ties and clamps at the end to tidy things up.;) This boat will be pounding hard, I need everything to stay tight and shipshape.

I want to see if the search light is accidentally switched on, so I made up a water proof toggle lever from a light
toggle, a pen sheath and hot glue. I'll install it in the Am after I surface grind and polish the end of the lever.
Cheers, Don

The garage is almost ready to turn into a boat house, In the mean time I finished making a steering wheel cap
from a old Mercedes rim cap. The pin I got from my friends in the UK finish it off.

I took my first dive boat out of the garage after being bagged up for 10 years. I bought this Zodiac GT Mark 1(11'6'') in 1982 and used her on a few adventures in Tahiti with a 18hp outboard. Later, I bought a new 25hp Johnson, stowed a motorcycle battery for the VHF radio, and took her 26 miles West to Catalina Island for overnight weekends. God ! standing next to her now I realized I was flecking nuts. The deck was just cooler, dive gear, and fuel tanks. The craziest crossing was from Bahia San Francisquito, to the steep rock island called Isla San Pedro Matir, 31miles to the east. My friend Robin and I put 3 6gal cans of fuel on the deck and left at 6am.
Within 5 miles of the Island, we saw a swirling water funnel in the blue and the wind started blowing about 40 knots West to the mainland, we both lashed to the tubes and surfed huge white caps back to the our fish camp. By the time we made it back a full on Chubasco (storm) had whipped up and we saw a 10 foot dingy flying 75 feet over the bay. our tents soon followed and were drug back the 1/4 mile to the beach.
We deflated Breathless and stowed her in my '' Baja van. That night 4 of us spent the night with the boat
thinking any minute the truck is going to get blown over on it's side, what a night...Baja in Oct.
I'll try to find some pics.Cheers, Don
Thanks for the story Don.
Awesome. You have really got to write a book sir
That must have been a wild ride.
Our Baja camp.
My best friend Robin was a All American water polo player at 6'9''.
I did not shoot the Golden grouper.
That's awesome. That trip must have been so much fun.
I end with a little fun... Hanging the meat.:@...Filet of Yellowtail that is.:D

Awesome trip/pics. The colors of the old photos always make me feel nostalgic.
I thought you're about 6ft tall Don, if so your friend has to be bigger than 6'9"?
I love those golden grouper. Definitely a bucket list fish. Awesome pics Don. I agree with Judah there needs to be a book.

I was 5'' 11'' then, you might be right, the poor bastard had to duck under most door frames, but he could out swim a boat.:D Broke every pair of fins I every procured for him.

My Mexican fishermen friends told me they are bad luck to take, I don't mess with them.
I have tons of images, video, trip logs and big sea story's. I plan on taking a writing course when I retire, than do a book someday.
One more of my Ford 1 ton dive van, ex wife and Rob, a long way from civilization. The truck made 300k miles before I rebuilt it,painted it white, and gave it to a Mexican family.
Cheers, Don
