I know that this is a subject that is brought up very frequently so I finally took the time to put a video together describing it in detail and hopefully it will help some of you guys out there.
Rigging a spectra slip tip

Great tutorial. Nice work.

Nice tutorial Ben, when I remove the slip tip from the fish I just roll a hitch over the tip a 1/4 '' from the point, than just pull it back through the wound hole.

I saw that done on a video once Don but wasn't certain how exactly it is done. Thanks for describing it. Maybe the next time I shoot a nice fish and am diving from the boat I can do a quick vid on how to do that.

Here it is on a vintage Wally Potts '' Ice Pick'' from a time before Jay was building guns.;)
I wonder if Wally ever got a shout out ?:D
Wally's ice pick used a hardened drill rod for the front tip, I never bent one, they would just stick in the rock if you wanted to sacrifice one on a record Calico. Cost was 8 bucks in the early eighty's with the adapter.I used these with 300# tuna cord before Kevlar (shitty) and Spectra (better).

Thanks don. That is great!!

It even works on tri cuts.

Great tutorial and thank you so much for showing the wire pull through, I had to find that technique through tutorials that had nothing to do with spearfishing... It is by far the easiest way to splice spectra and kevlar.
Just a quick question Ben, why not taper the end pulled through, is it stronger for the knot with a full size pull through verses a long bury with tapper? -
Don great tip!! Cheers.
