It is fascinating. But I've been divided for a while over the haka thing. It's meant to create a sort of high to put the men into battle mode, pump up the adrenaline and push away their own fears. At the same time instilling fear in the enemy. There's something to be said for the calculating white man's methods too. A haka could be construed as demonstrating a weakness, you're afraid so you want to scare. It is also a waste of valuable energy. Let me put it to you this way; in the absense of other factors like weapons I prefer to fight someone that's freaking out as opposed to someone who's calmly looking to take me out.
A haka is like a warm up, before eating the enemies hahaha. Those Maoris are some frigging scary people, well built and fearsome.
