haha first thing I thought was bullets cause bleeding tampons stop bleeding so to speak

thank u mike, logic,, jeez

That gun was designed to make people look stupid. For a bullet like that to be fired the person shooting is just being set up for failure. All the things mrmike mentioned would help but the biggest thing wrong is the shooting stances of all the guys in the vid. If you have ever watched a professional shooter they lean forward and have their weight on their front foot all of the guys except the last guy were leaning back hence they all fall over. The last guy has fairly square stance witch is better and the results are obvious.
Still makes for a funny vid

okay, those guys are terrible shooters...from the weight to the posture and the positioning of their hands, they were set up for failure before they touched the trigger. ( i didnt see Xan's post before I wrote, I agree, they are poor shooter)
the barrett .50 has shit ton of kick, but it is a much tamer beast than that thing...my cousin was a sharpshooter for the IDF and she dislocated her right shoulder taking a prone shot when she took a shot once as an explosion nearby knocked the gun away from her shoulde...that said, she is a super tiny girl, the .50 is taller than her, but she is a badass. Her platoon called her the angel of death. she spent 13 years sniping and is still a sniper instructor, I dont see anyone handling the abuse this gun delivers, so the .50 is a lot more usable
-
The 50 cal is a much better solution as well as a lot more practical. The barret has a lot of features that reduce the recoil. (a proper muzzle break, semi-atomatic and its more than double the weight of the gun in that video) There is still a lot of recoil as Judah mentioned. Sad thing is the same people who designed that round also created an even larger .700 nitro express (why?
)Ill post a video of me shooting a .50 cal that my uncle has at a hay bail as part of a redneck mythbusters experiment. Some people thought that because of the way a hay bail is wound it would act similar to a kevlar vest and stop the bullet. They couldnt have been more wrong. The round went right through the bail and clean through two 1/2 in steel railroad ties with out a problem. the gun in the video weighs 55 lbs and I weigh 185. Sorry for the poor vid quality its a cell phone vid.

haha, what a cannon. i saw that 700 nitro thing too. friggen wild

here is the photo essay of the same story...Epic does not begin to describe that experience

I wonder if the mako went for the marlins tail to prevent a potential escape or if it was just coincidence.
-
That is how they attack. Not only to immobilize to prevent escape but also to keep it from stabbing them
-
haha hadnt considered the harpoon on the front end. Reminds me of a sailfish video I have and the first words you hear are "I swear if this thing stabs me..." from a friend of mine
-
I believe attacking the tail is strategy used by more than one predatory fish.
I felt that wasn't fair for the marlin. I hope at least they kept and ate it.
-
In the photo essay they pulled it up on the boat after the strike. I assume that means they kept it. Hope so

What a true title.
