I use to use a single 19mm 32" band, and the gun was underpowered significantly. This is why is use two 16mm bands between 26 and 28 inches. I might just get another 28.5 band and take off the 26.

I use Riffe Godzilla bands...the yellow ones. To be honest, I cannot pull neither of the bands on the last tab, and I am about 6'4" and 265 lol.

Depends, are you hitting stuff? :)

With two 16mm bands, a 26" and a 28.5", one on your pursuit helper fin tab and one on your secound fin tab, the recoil is too strong for me to tell how bad I am missing lol.

I have a 115cm Beuchat Marlin with a 160cm shaft, and my overhang is only 6" :(. Do I need a longer shaft to help with accuracy?

I'm pretty sure you'll have lionfish soon. They've spread all over the Caribbean in the last few years. They are native of the tropical Pacific from Hawaii west to the Indo Pacific and Indian oceans. It's believed they were introduced to the Atlantic through a large aquarium in the Bahamas which kept lionfish but discharged unfiltered water which likely released millions of eggs or larvae over time.
It's believed that there are no natural predators here so many fear they will take over the reefs and deplete many of the natural species here.

Yeah but HOW does such a small fish deplete a large variety of fish population?

We don't have lion fish where I live, so I am not aware of the damage they do. What exactly does this species of fish do why they are so feared? I mean, they look real small and timid.

I don't know Dan...I have used open and dry snorkels, and could never go back open again. Where I dive there are huge waves that constantly crash on your head, unlike those crystal calm waters I see you guys diving in up North. An open snorkel just wouldn't cut it down here where 6ft waves are the norm.

The Atlantic side of Antigua here in the caribbean is 90% of the time rough. And wave constantly try to bash you against rocks and reefs, so I find it an obstacle to have a buoy with a long line floating behing you in such conditions, to be ideal. That line would be wrapped around ten rocks by the time you blink three times lol.

The pic in my avatar is on the caribbean side of the island, which is 99% of the time calm, but the water is always white lol. I find it strange that the rough side is always clear and the calm side is always white.

I don't think a floatline is such a good idea to be using when doing reef fishing. Does anyone have problems with their mono lines tangling up in their bands when shot, especially when you only load one out of two bands?

thanks for the tips man. I will be getting the Beuchat Pacific reel shortly, to complete the setup I currently have. Do you think that 50M of line is enough for close reef fishing?

The second Barry was almost as long as me and I and 6'5.

I think I have Barracudafobia lol. Today I went diving in the reefs on the Atlantic side of my island and came across a 4ft Barry which was hovering in about 8ft of water. I approached it with my 90cm Beuchat Canon, but after reading the new clip of what the Barry did that diver's arm, I was very hesitant to fire. It was about 7ft in front me and I was concerned on whether if I shoot it, if it would turn on my, so I left it alone. I went to another dive site a few hours later and came across a 6ft beast of a Barry that kept following me and taking swipes at my fish line. This scared the shit out of me as that thing came within 2 ft of me snapping its jaws at my fish!! I dropped my line and swam away.
This time I had my Beuchat 115 Marlin gun with a tri cut Speardiver 7mm shaft. I didn't have a reel or float line on it though. Do you guys think I made the right decision, or should I have aimed for it's head and taken the shot without a reel? Do you think it would have turned on me if I hit it in the side?

I was just diving in about 15ft of murky water yesterday, and came across a huge 5ft barracuda. The damn thing just appeared about 3ft to my left out of nowhere and just watched me :o. I was scared shitless as I didn't see it until it was right next to me. I just slowly swam to my right as I only had a 90cm Buechat Canon with no reel or float lol.
