or the corgi was taken advantage of while she was on a stepladder

well i think you re correct, a 100lb king would own me and the float, but I used reinforced aircraft rivets and wide steel washers so I think I have a little more hold than screws, but I'd still be 'screwed'
that is Banjo, my corgi/German Shepard mix. he will bring me handtools (never the right size though, damn mutt can't grasp metric system) but that is his favorite bone he is showing off there
monsterslayer- that is a very nice float, you only lose points for not making it yourself...j/k

here are some pics of what I did
first I added a padeye and nice ss swivel to the bottom to attach the floatline. on the bottom so it lifts the front when towed to minimize drag
this is the bungee I put on the top of the front. I copied the rigging from my kayak cos I know how handy that is and figured it would transfer well
here is the rigging for the back end. I use the padeyes to both anchor my speargun while in transit as well as to anchor the bungee that holds down the flag. I drilled the flag hole out to allow for a pvc but that pads the flagpole
Here it is holding down the gun and the rear end with the gun anchored
here is the flag pole up
and the better view
i think i'll most likely redo this with some custom tied bungees but that will be later
and here is the handle I added for carrying the board to and from the launch
and here is my sidekick

well i decided to hold off on the pontoon glassing idea I spoke with you about when I got the float.
I figured I should dive with it a few times to get a sense of what I like and what i dontin the mean time I did a little rigging to keep my gun secure, and hold up my massive flag until I get a better idea of what needs improvement.
I'll post pics in a little bit -
I'll post up a vid I took as soon as I get the time to edit it down...but here is the basics
you chill kill the bugs(put em in ice and sea water) to get em cold right off the bat, this is critical
the flip them onto their back and using your right hand grasp all off the legs
place your left hand, palm down, on what would be the bug's chin
pull the legs away and up from the carapas(sp?)
as the first shell breaking sound is heard, pull slighty back towards the front of the bug
then continue pulling up and down
at this point the legs and leg tendons can be easily removed from the tail and there is a big chunk of body meat on the top of the tail
i was blown away....even learned a trick to get at the head meat which is "b" grade, but can be cleaned up and used in tacos or salads and such
I'll get the vid up soon

i think it is all about the preparation....I have had some folks tell me that mack is gross and I think cero mack is one of the most delicious fish there is when eaten fresh and cooked nicely...I have had some stankin cobia and some that makes you want to beg for seconds. all in the cook if you ask me
-
I love the knife... i did the mods you showed me and I am very pleased...I was also inspired to try something and made myself a small backup ikijimi for the calf mount.
now all i need is to get my ass back in the water.

any follow up report pargo?
I was very intrigued by this idea and I was wondering how it turned out

RA composite reel for me. But at the same I also use what I feel is the ultimate float, my 16f yak. I have a 150f poly anchor line on the yak and therefore am almost always within 150f of my yak with flag. I swim holding my 3lb anchor, see a fish or good spot and descend very easy with the anchor, then shoot the fish, let go of the anchor and surface. I pull my fish up fast and by that time have drifted down current very close to the yak and simply drop the fish into my fish dry bag with ice in the yak. My 16f yak with a full size [22x24in] dive flag is easier to spot by a boater, gets me out there at 5mph per GPS
watching this process take place is truly awesome..the man is a well oiled machine..

haha /\
i am in for whatever..that sounds like a lot of fun and I'll be driving up all three days
-
sweet..I was just curious about the deployment..is it somehow automated or do you intend to be able to pull it if you find yourself in a moment of panic?
-
well, that sounds like more than enough for me, I think i am in favor of as little weight as possible, so that is a great start for me.
-
I took off the bungee netting to use with the other board I'm making and I'm keeping the flag. If you want the board you're welcome to it. I'm in Ft. Lauderdale, pm to let me know if and when you want to pick it up.
amazing man, thanks.... PM coming

I've never used a weight belt before, I was always weirded out by it, but I have done a lot of research and think I'm ready...I don't know about how to determine the amount I'd need.. I weigh 220 and am 6'4".. I am usually slimmer than that, but new job and grad school forced me out of the gym for a while.
any insight? how much do 6 of them weigh?
