Yaudon where from Puerto Rico are you from? Do you speared there by any chance? We have a very good group of Ricans here i was wondering if you knew any of them including myself. Hope you get lots of info here and enjoy yourself while contributing to the forum:thumbsup2: WELCOME, Damn did i just sound like Pargo?:rolleyes1:

    Hey Alvin,

I will DEFINITELY have to try your gun with a sama boricua, when you finally come here.

:laughing3: For Sure. This will be a fun project. Still getting all the stuff ready. once i get the mats for the gun i will be buyinf floatline and float, fins adn wetsuit and all the little details so when i go back to Puerto rico I can go :attack3::diver2: The Samas(Muttons) wont have a clue what hit them:D

Dont think so, she is only 8 years old, I will do most of the loading, I will start with a gallon jug first so she takes the feeling of shooting, she has shoot my guns but only in open water not at something at it was a 48" with 2 tight 5/8 bands, so it kick a little for her, she put a scary face at first but it was change fast to a DAMN this is awesome and "I want a speargun" .

    Pucho

PS the trigger guard is soldering 1/8" SS rods

Dang it. and i tought me starting on this at 12 years old was the bomb 20+ years ago, by the time she is like 15 she will be out fishing us for sure. and we wil be on the boat drinking on a rocking chair;) Gratz that is a awesome gun for her to get her spearo life going . And is awesome she like the sports almost as much as we do. I know there is no better partners than daddys little girl and viceversa. Only daddy can bring safety in the water like no one else:thumbsup2:

OHHH Yea. You guys notice by now that with all that knowledge the gun will come out awesome. I call Bill the TEAK WISPERER:thumbsup2:. This thread will try to cover all those little small angles on this weird type of gun. Is kind of like an euro with a little twist to the conventional Riffe gun with the expertise of the wisperer. The results will be shown first time in the water and i make my first kill. Pictures is a must on my first out to kill something..I will have a picture when i get the gun for the first time.:laughing3: Can you imagine the reaction i sure can:D I also will be posting all the parts that will be included on the project for future reference. Everything for the spearos in this forum to share and use when they try to build their own guns,

P.S. You got to get the Blanks from the wosperer they will not dissapoint:thumbsup2:

:birthday2: TO ME:laughing3: Bill you Da' Man:thumbsup2: Yep it is that time of the year where my little overkill beast will be born. I was searching like crazy, questioning myself, but after all this time me and Bill (Woody Guy) got the idea to a 90%. This will be a hell of a thread following the steps from start to the finished product, hoping to help other spearos to see how a masterpiece is born;). Tin Man will be the master of disaster creating one hell of a handle that if it comes out the way i think it will be one of a kind but the waiting, yes sir the waiting, why the waiting? yes you guess right not so patience i guess right?. :iwantitnow:. is going to be a long process but i guess the wait will more than worth it:thumbsup2:

Holy crap did I have fun today. First off I would like to thank Hau and Scott for waiting for me. Hau I put that anchor back into your truck, ty for the genorous offer but it was just to combersome for me. I went to west marine on the way home and got a small one.
So this was my maiden voyage on a yak, wow I felt like a fat tangled mess out there. I am gonna reorganize a few things which I hope will make my life easier for next time. Once I was in the water things got allot better. None the less the vis was good, a bit windy and a little current.
    Steve

Damn someone wake up early to check the weather. hmmm. real nice. I'm at work already just dreaming about spearfishing and you going fishing. Why wont we exchange positions for one day;), Good luck on this day. get some pictures so people like me can dream for a little more:thumbsup2:

I did a google search for Spearfishing forums and this forum was on the third page :( then tried Freediving spearfishing search and it shows on 7th position:(. I know i'm using a goverment (ARMY)computer . But it still show the same list that at home. I might not be able to get in to some of the other links due to be restricted for army but i can get to this one no problem. So is still good buiseness for me:thumbsup2::thumbsup2:

Damn ROLO. You seem like a preety good doctor there. I had to pull out my dictionary out:0, That is to much info for me. :laughing3: I couldnt follow you. Joaking. I understand first hand what you mean. Like i say family members have this symptoms in the past. And once they eat certain fish that might contain a little trace of the toxin. The reaction shows fast and everytime it happens it gets worst. That is because they really never got rid of the toxin in the first place. Like they say in Puerto Rico. You just keep building the amount up. This good info right here. but i guess this will be a huge thread by itself. As spearos we focus on the hunting. As fish eaters well we are like anyone else cook the fresh fish and eat it. The ciguatera is always a gamble. I have not seen a method that really works when it comes to identify the toxin. Anyone have any idea, cause i have heard of some weird shit like let a cat smel it. and if he doesnt eat it is bad. I can tell you that my family ,ishermans most of them. have tried that . and doesnt work:laughing3:. Even the one that you let the meat sit in a table and if the flies dont get to the meat is because is bad meat. And i know old school spearos or comercial fishermans have plenty of stories about it. I was tought to spear by a old cuban when i was 12 years old. 21 years later i can still remember all his stories, Real awesome guy, he got lots of pictures with huge snappers and Groupers from back in the day in cuba. And he told me lots of stuff about different species that in Puerto Rico lots of people dont eat but they are good eating. have you guys hear this weird stories from fishermans?

you are correct. I missed some great pictures Sunday with that Bull, moray eels, dead fish in the yak, on and on. For now I'll work on getting my iphone pictures posted here until I can get an UW camera.

See that tells the story right there. :wantpics: and you guys should think about the spearos on the forum wanting to see some blood:D that is selfish i guess:laughing3::muahaha:

In all my life i was under the impresion that cudas close to the shore where more expose to ciguatera due to the small fishes they eat around that can carry it. But the ones in deep water or blue water are good for eating. Same problem with Hog Fish (Capitan like they say in Puerto rico.) Is known that Hog's Carry lots of ciguatera as well. But the ones from deep waters dont. I have got lots of hogs in my life and only very few got family members sick. all of them taken close to shore, the rest of them were taken on waters far from shores, Bays, or rivers, on waters over 60 feet deep and they were clean. Cudas I like a lot but i think because i eat only the small ones from the deep waters i have never goten sick. Up to 20 pounds. Cudas over that weight i use for chumming:D.

Sounds great to me...sort of like what HSD does with the Hawaiian records. PS you can go ahead and reserve a spot for me on the kingfish record :D
I shot this one last year and can finally share the picture with everyone as the article I wrote about it just went to print in the last HSD magazine. The story is called "The Wait"

WOOOWWW:0:0That is a Big Kajunas right there Congratz:thumbsup2::thumbsup2:

Funny this comes up now, I've never noticed this thread. I never heard about chimichurri and my wife bought some to put on steak yesterday. I'll try it on fish soon. Thanks all for sharing.

Your welcome. Iknow this works so good and all the seaffod i ate today is getting me ready for the marathon;):bed::hump1: haha joaking
