well core, u have to be carefull with some cubans!! What ever size fish your friend tells you, cut it in half and that will be the real size! :thumbsup2:

eso es lo que mi ex-suegro siempre me decia. and he was cuban!

    Just joking guys!

:laughing3: Dont lie you were dead serious. :agree1:

:D Those are some beautifull guns for sure. I saw the pictures of Tiger Woods. He is a good spear. I saw the picture of him and a nice 100 # Yellowfin tuna. I will love to have a new Wong Gun. But cant afford it right now:(

I have always used float lines with the Riffe float all my life. But i do understand that when you have a few spearos in the water getting tangle is a mess. I have very little practice with the reel but i love it in places from 20' to 50'. From there on i really like better the floatline. more secure and like state before for safe reasons it helps to assist in the surface if you get tired. But also can be a mess when boats get close to the boat. i got a friend that got pulled by a boat that got to damn close and pull the line and drag him for a bit before the float line broke. But at the mean time. damage the boat motor:D. So he was able to ID the boat and report him. he was closer than the 300' and plus he has a flag on his float. with the reel this will never happen. And for sure dragging a flot with a full string in it. is no fun. against a current. it feel like you are pulling a cow.:D

Damn anotehr proof why i'm so home sick. I talk to carmelo on christmas. couplke of days before he was getting married. i beleive the same day he got his bachelor party i beleive. i remember when he was getting into spearfishing. But you can still see he got so much natural potential in the sport. Looks that i was right. he is doing awesome. Hey Marco say hi to him as well... We got so much friends in common but i think i only met you once.

Nice. Cuba got some of the best reefs for spearfishing. You can go from north of cuba all the way to Bahamas i beleive. is a heaven for game fish. Got a Cuban friend that landed some huge Cubera Snappers and some huge Groupers as well.

:D Nice story. But as you know that happen a lot. when your eyes see the big fish i think you dont see around you. so i guess he never saw you aming at it. like you didnt saw him coming down from the top... But hey you still manage the second one. I was wondering when i saw the video where the second one came from.lol..Good timing. Would of beign funny see the fish spear by both of you at the same time. :)

    Bienvenido Alvin! ;)

Thanks to you bud. i'm here. Glad you show me this place.:D finally i get to read from PR spearos. Kind of make me home sick. But i will return one day with a vengeance, so please i beg of you. stop killing damn pargos. i feel the supply will run thin by the time i get back:rolleyes1:. But hopefully i can go back to Parguera that is where i did my last Matanza.

hmmm more neutral. well. i was kind of the last to jump out of the boat trying save it. But i forgot to collect my belongings to secure them.. so i lost 70% of my gear. plus a king mackarel that was huge. (personal record for me). but with the camera drowned the nice pictures were spoiled:blowup:. I can tell you about that story some day that will take some really long typing. Just glad we end up safe after all of that.

Welcome to the forum :toast: We don't have any members from the east coast states north of Florida at this time so you are the first. It's great to have participation from a different area. When you find diving partners in your area feel free to direct them to this forum. In the meanwhile make yourself at home and absorb our spearfishing wisdom  and share some of yours.

    Saludos,
    Dan

    Thanks a lot.
Ive been reading a lot lately. you from carribbean i beleive right.? Venezuela?

Sorry mate. but in PR we do use the water to make some good rice and get some of the meat from the legss and claws. and you have some good crab rice. is really good. That is a good size crab there;). My grand father used to collect them put them in a big cage and feed them cooked rice and coconut , they will get fat and they will clean in the inside. they will get sweet. I really love them . but like he said is kind of like a social event. and you will make a mess allover the place. but hey it really worth the time. :thumbsup2::thumbsup2:

I was with him and rodolfo when we did the cast away in his brand new boat couple of years back. some funny ass story but i will keep that for myself:). getting new gear before i head back to PR to do some spearfishing. i really hope you have time to take me out. if not i will driving like crazy around the island to get some shore diving time.:thumbsup2:

    I'm a newbie in this website :cool2:
I ve been spearfishing/freediving for about 20 years now. though i'm a diving instructor as well and have spearfish/diving as well. nothing is better than kill or stalk a fish while holding your brerath. I'm in the military and spend quite a few years overseas and have not been able to spearfish in the last 4 years :angry5:. maybe twice now finally back to the states i'm living in georgia and looking to meet new ppl in the area so i can get going my spearfishing . :) . If any experience spearos in the area please send me a PM to set somenthing for when the water gets warmer. Will try to post pictures of previous catch i have made. Snappers, Sharks etc.
