I think I'm gonna dive tomorrow afternoon look for some of the yellows all the hook and line guys have been slaying.

Good luck if you get out, I'm going to head out either tomorrow or Wednesday PM in search of flatties.. Ideally in NC but we will see if it clears up.
I missed the meeting tonight, did you get any new gear?

I think the stars in alignment. Yesterday conditions in Central LJ were better than expected with 10+ ft vis. Not amazing but workable. Today, the swell is down and North LJ Armada is gone, plus a grunion run.. The swell might bump up on Wednesday, so if you can get out it could be productive. If anyone has a NC report I'd appreciate it.
    good hunting

Good point Josh. I would recommend that you get into the habit of invoking your constitutional rights when dealing with law enforcement. Nat Geo's Wild Justice is a good example of why people should STFU instead of hanging themselves.

So true, I have only seen a few episodes but in the one with old guy who as shooting hawks and vultures if he would have just said, "I have nothing to say and you can't come in" then his life would be much better. With that said I don't condone his actions.

She will definitely be with me on this trip. I was going to write her name on the tags to make sure there wouldn't be any confusion.

I would not alter the tags in anyway.
Here is what I have done. Day one grab three snails. Day two before I go diving write out the following on piece of a paper and keep it with the abalone "I Sockeye, (license number) hereby gift abalones tagged 1 2 and 3 to person x" Then I proceed to collect my three and head on our way.
    have fun

Point Loma bubble report - Green and dark despite good surface conditions. Lots of algae and particulate in water. We are getting hit with large tide swings a spring bloom. But.... grunion run and good halibut being reported but sadly I'm just a keyboard jocky this week.

Good stuff as always Kirby. I would capsize soo many times if I every tried using a crab pot from a kayak.
Let me know when you are San Diego next, I have some abalone questions for you.

The brand is officially switched over to Speardiver. Most items are still branded Pursuit. I still have wetsuits with no logo from the time I couldn't decide on any name. The design, materials and manufacturing are the same. The catalyst for the change was people confusing the sound of Pursuit with Persistent, and Pipin using the same font as pursuit for the persistent logo. Pipin, pursuit, persistent.. too many p's for me.

Honestly I get the names Persistent and Pursuit mixed up. IMHO Speardiver is better name for a full line of products :toast::toast:

Thanks for letting us know, I did enjoy Marty's talk at the Legends event. I'll have to re-watch it later tonight. I hope was he was able to say good bye to those closest to him before passing.

sockeye i've been trying to PM you but i can't, mb because i'm too new. i just started up a website before i saw your thread, pretty much doing the same thing you are. i figured we could probably collaborate on this and get something going. i'm in OB so the more info from different sites the better, and also the more people working on it the more good ideas come up and the more reliable it is. i don't think i can post the site name on here so can you shoot me a PM at some point? thanks

You should be able to post a link to your website, or ask Dan first if you want. I think there is a place of meta analysis website devoted to dive conditions, I'm not sure you will gain much traction with a user updated model unless it was tied to FB or someother "social media" Anyway, I have working too much not diving.
    good luck

theres some nice schoolie fish beeing shot off marine st kelp ,,,, giddy up amigos :toast:tides dont matter PM is the time 1hr before sundown is the witching hour ... Joe

    Awesome tip :toast:

It is super windy out now with white caps as far as I can see plus the swell is building.

The gun I saw wasn't anything special. Just a 50" or so 3/8" shaft with muzzle ferrules. Way beefier than it needs to be, and didn't look anywhere close to finished... Believe it was $1000. The one they donated to the fish reef project was marked $1200, natural finish, again nothing special.

Well I could be wrong, to be honest I don't remember any exact figures. Looking at their website a 56" gun sells for $1200 unrigged
    titan speargun 56

They have them at J&J, I don't recall the price but I don't think it was crazy high. Were the ones at Fred Hall "pimped" out with a crazy paint job etc? The ones at J&J are natural. I'm not sure about the screwed in wood plate over the push rod / mechanism, it just seems like a failure point after several removals. Of course you shouldn't have to regularly remove the plate but still if I'm laying out that kind of cash I want a work horse that will last for 20 years. Then there is the potential issue of a titanium mechanism.. And would you need a titanium mechanism? I'd be interested to hear more from the maker, I think there was post on SB from someone who went to the gun makers shop but it might have been taken down, I couldn't find it the other day.

I haven't updated in awhile, it looks like a bit of algae in the water and lots of wind chop in the afternoon. Sadly I haven't been to close to the water much lately.
