I have only seen the online videos but it seems like they spend an a lot of time dealing with meth heads. I certainly don't envy their job.

You and your brother are a class acts! I hope to get the chance to dive you guys.

They are sponsors -
The swell was building and the wind was blowing at dusk. Hopefully no one got caught in the swell at night. The predictions show the swell dying by tomorrow night but we will see. Maybe the weekend will be clear.

despite my inability to find much life, save one halibut, others seem to be doing OK. Amazing as-good-as-it-gets conditions right now through the expected large swell on Tuesday night.
-
If you are not diving you should be, 15ft ish vis in central LJ and getting better but not much life out.

Only dove for Abs once in Mendo. We stayed at Russian Gultch Campground and dove some public access points. I know you can launch a kayak at Van Damme State Park, not sure about an inflatable. I was there in August and we had 57* water with 30+ ft vis. Abs are everywhere and very tasty.
good luck -
What do you drive Sockeye?
Well I exaggerated a bit, my 1985 Volvo 240 is only 27 years but I plan on driving it until 2015. Mercs from the same era also used vinyl. For a modern car I would think leather would be better than cloth. My wife's car, a Honda Element, has water proof plastic seats but they still stain.
Do you need three rows of seats? How much weight are you towing?
good luck on your search -
My 30 year old vinyl seats are holding up well.

That dfg booklet has at least one flaw, it shows bird rock at catalina as being half in/half out of the mpa's.
Interesting, I learned something the other day. When looking at the boundaries, many of them are a few hundred feet from a good land mark and you have to wonder why didn't they draw a map that is easy to follow and use these obvious land marks? The answer is they wanted "cute" round GPS coordinates, not sure how that helps us. -
I get an error message on the link.
I've used the DFG mobile "app" a couple of times lately at Monterey. I walked out on Lover's Point last weekend with my smart phone and got the precise (hopefully) boundary before I dove.
It works for me, also you can go here
California Department of Fish & Game, Marine Life Protection Act, South Coast Marine Protected Areas
then click on "Full Booklet" (116 pages, plus cover - 9.9 MB)
Or do a right click save as. -
Totally blown away, granted this in only a from-the-shore vis report but it looks great out there! Despite heavy surf and rain a few days ago it looks like 15+ft vis. I'd suit up if you can. Note for the image below by cell phone camera makes everything more blue than it really is.

This is way I don't eat pismos from Silver stand, when it rains all of TJ flushes and goes north
-
Added lunar calender, but still looking for a better one.
It should go without saying that the vis sucks, rain, wind, and swell. Plus the water is cold at 57. Good day to finally re-rig the gun, maybe take a trip down to J&J. -
Here is the LINK Has anyone seen these at licensing locations?
Or if that does not work, go here
http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mlpa/scmpas_list.asp#brochures
then click on "Full Booklet" (116 pages, plus cover - 9.9 MB)
Or right click save as. -
I found a good online booklet that shows where the MPAs are with satellite images and clearer regulation verbiage.

Thanks for sharing. Conditions were rough yesterday. I will be down at CP tomorrow before this swell rolls in.
The swell is down from yesterday, how is the vis at CP?

No pics, I still need to find an easy way post pics directly from my android phone.
Just got out of water, today is one of those strange big swell good vis days with vis between 10-15 feet. Assorted reef fish were out. Well worth practicing a big swell exit and I didn't have to do the crawl of shame! Good luck if you get out this weekend. It looks like huge swell for Monday. -
If there are any other resources you find useful, post here or pm me and I'll add them. My goal is to create a single go to page for current conditions.
thanks
