  • Spearfishing Cabo

    Guys, anyone here from Cabo or familiar with things there?


    i'm going to be in Cabo on a business trip weekend of 8/12 and would like to arrange a trip for 8/13, it'd be a shame not to try if I'm already there...


    Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction with a local operation I can set this up? I'll be staying at ME by Melia Cabo

    forgot to report the vis, it was weird, some spots had relatively clear 40-50', and some only about 20-30' with a very cold thermocline


    the permit was stoned, no fight :)


    the mutton was stoned


    the king was not, did two good runs, almost spooled me on the first one

    got out this weekend sunday at the crack of noon :thumbup: well, beggars cant be choosers, and it was a very nice ride anyways.


    checked out a couple of shallower spots that produced nothing, then worked an area of 70-85' where we got a couple of fish,


    38lb permiso
    10lb pargo criollo
    25lb sierra
    plus 2 hefty 25lbs or so cudas


    Eddie post a picture of the fish on the deck and the mutton covering up a pursuit fin :)

    I've had a couple of tears already, definitely very fragile, I would get the diamond mesh like Eddie did, you get the same benefits as the smooth but much more resistant


    definitely an interesting day with the bulls out there, I think Eddie puts it very lightly :@

    One other thing, they allow fileting of fish on the boat? How did that turn out with two drunk astronauts doing the carving?


    you know, those are all good questions. I gotta tell you, the whole trip was very entertaining. at times I was laughing so hard I'd get hiccups.


    one guys name is Johnson, the guy drank 70 beers over a 48hr window :@ , they were hook and lining, all they had on the boat was like 2 or 3 12" fishies. Johnson was so drunk that he kept falling around on the boat, the only other guy that was sober, besides me, got severely seasick on both days.


    the whole thing with the filleting was bizarre, I think it had to do with the fact that they wanted to clean the fish before we headed back to mainland to save time. the quality of the filleting job was alright, I saw some meat on the carcass, but since I wasn't taking any of it, it was fine.


    it was so funny, johnson would be standing over Dave, barely standing, with beer can in hand, and he kept saying, "Dave, do you know what the f... you're doing? you've never had a fish this big on your boat!"
