Daniel and I played our bands like guitars and the Yellowtails loved it! We saw about 12 each... schools of 2-5 at a time... most were drawn into clear view buy playing the bands.
Vis at Catalina frontside was 40-60ft, endless schools of bait and tons of nice grade 5-20lb yellows. The bigger ones kept their distance but daniel and I both shot our first yellows at 10 and 12 pounds, but lost 2 as well. Both on single wrap floppershafts! We also got 18 lobsters diving and my lil bro got 4 hooping. Great trip for November!!!

I have a 7mm, but Have not used it yet.

Caught on H&L in 30ft... lost several others over 20lbs in the same spot... definately a place to dive with a few friend one of these days. 4 lings came from this spot. and 5 limits of rockfish.
-
wow 15ft in norcal... was that the Humboldt area? I am in need of some dive buddies in the area.
-
I use a 22 inch JBL blue lightning... and a homemade 20mm band for extra power...
see a big fish... shoot the big fish... then stand up... its only 2 ft deep.
-
I should have shot that 20 lber too tho.
-
I heard a big crunch and thought I hit the reef, but it was from his skull exploding... hit him just abouve the eye.
-
I was actually at a different spot this time... thats why I blocked out the image... lots of bigger fish holding at the spot... this was a smaller one. daniel missed a 30ish lber.
-
ya... I figured I'd shoot one of these today and see how big they were... For the last few weeks I have been thinking they were borderline fish... guess not.

Very cool, I don't have the balls to jump in just trunk'n it or have a spot that produces like that.
Josh, I have been meaning to ask you and this for some time and now seems like an appropriate time. How/why do put up with the constant attacks on SB? Not that you don't sometimes bring a bit on yourself, but take this post for example, sure you say hali-master but WTF that is just a little internet chest pounding coming from a 17-18 year old. Then all the guys who are old enough to know better start asking like 14 year old girls with raging PMS.
Anyway, props for a cool dive and being more of adult than guys twice your age.
happy huntingThe old (California section) SB is dead, we all know it, and all those that know it contribute to its killing...
As for me, I am quite stubborn and have a thick head... you gotta realize that all this is just nonsense on a computer screen. The real world is behind you, to your left and to your right, but the computer screen in front of you and whats on it is just a bunch of random Bullshit.
No one that gives me crap online ever does in real life... because they are a bunch of pussies!!!

The hali master is back in action... I heard on a certain f-book that a certain someone dove a certain spot in SoOC and speared a certain amount of halibut... at night. Well I decided to go there and take my hali gun, in the day and trunk it and go oldschool style (trunks, small fins, crappy barrel gun, mask) on the halibut... Vis was 5ft, water was 62*, air was windy 58*, choppy, lots of current and surge... in 30 minutes I nailed two halis... a 24" and a 28". Lots of bait out as well as a crap ton of short halibut and some turbots.
For lunch I cooked up some halibut cheek, wraped in thin sliced halibut fillet, wraped in turkey bacon, breaded (with floating organic flour bread), and deep-fried in oil.
