I didn't read the thread to see if I already stated my opinion on this, I know I've done so many other times. Don't waste your money on any of those lines, get a simple polypropelene line, it's cheap, it floats, is strong enough for anything you'll encounter, and you can choose a diameter that you're most comfortable with. Unlike tube style "sink" lines it can be easily spooled and managed.

Amen to that. Rather than have all that hardware involved with the vinyl ones too ( big spearfishing manufacturers have made a mint fooling people into thinking those lines improve performance in the water n blah blah blah :boring1:) You can easily splice loops into each end and add a longline clip, swivels, whatever you want. You can find 50 ft lengths at walmart for less then 10 dollars, and even loop them together to make a longer line.

I had 1 vinyl floatline and hated it, it sank as soon as i got in the water with it. Waste of money.

Me and nate also own one of the RA floatlines. it WAS a 100 ft til he had his brush with death.. and i sold my 80 ft to Ben choi..... great lines, cheap and easy to hold onto, and STRONG.

When I was in Fort Lauderdale I was just going out to dive and a lifeguard stopped me and told me I couldn't dive off the public beach when he was on duty. Is this the case everywhere on the beaches with lifeguards?

I guess it depends where you dive. The lifeguards have gotten a little more pesky with their rules this fall then they were last winter where i usually dive there. One guy stopped me and told me and my friend who came with me that we were required to wear snorkeling life vests :confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1: another instance i gave my buddy jake some intel, he hit the beach but was prevented from going in the water because he didnt have a buddy. ive been kayak diving up there lately and they leave us alone... but who knows. I try n get up there before the beach gets crowded... or i gear up as much as possible at my car and head right to the water when i get there.

Andrew, yes we were in small boat. Was yours a large dive boat with a lot of people?

The water was choppy for our boat to range too far in search of better vis.

we only had 5 people total on board, had to take the boat out just to run it. We ran into some sloppy stuff too farther off but it eventually laid down a bit. surface conditions were very strange today. let me know when your planning on diving out of haulover... if ive been out ill try n report viz or get a report from my buddies.

    OK

BTW the water was milk today N and S of Haulover. A real waste of time.

We found some viz again today in 70-90 nate came out on the dive boat i work on. bout 40 at first then got worse as the day went on. Were you in a smaller boat? Thought i saw a few freedivers heading out suited up in a couple boats, we were on the SCUBA diving boat with the shark teeth painted on the hull.

All greys. I have alot of video i need to go through, nate loaned me his gopro today but it was out of control how many there were and how big they were. Im going back to the same spot tomorrow morning.... theres a big black grouper I whiffed on that has an appointment with dr andrew the piercing artist.

    contributing my lil reports.

hit it today off my friends rig. went to a spot weve been dying to dive and havent been able to get on it until some friendly advice from the guy who gave us these numbers.

70-100 ft, viz was probably 20-25 feet nothing stellar. Beat the living crap out of the biggest triggers ive ever seen in florida, i think i ended up with over 20. my buddy charlie pulled his PB hog. i also shot a mango and a hog but they paled in comparison to the triggers i was shooting. we got swarmed so bad my buddy charlie swam away from them and stopped shooting em.

Interesting. I've speared quite a few large ones in Boca that were VERY skittish and also some in Vero Beach that were far more docile... thats the first ft. lauderdale one I've heard of. Have you seen them here before?

steve i see a ton of em in the marinas when im cleaning boat hulls. a few i saw may or may not have been killed:rolleyes1: i got one yesterday actually. nate flipped me off for it.

I used to get them regularly when i lived in st lucie county. more often then not I think they like nasty muddier bottom n dirtier water.

I rinse my suit out after every time and leave out to dry but will try turning inside out and see if that helps, i guess it could be residue of water and lube that makes it stick.

my open cell suit that i have (bless the poor thing as I am terribly rough on my gear) has lasted me almost 4 years now. it is time for a new one but i always rinse it and store it inside out and its never stuck or anything. Plenty of holes in it now that i just keep gluing with wetsuit adhesive to keep it lasting til i can afford a new one thats more durable.
