What length shaft and diameter do you like using with this gun?

probably could.. but the muzzles not really designed for that.
Why would it matter to the muzzle? My thought is - since Dan's roller kit allows the unloaded band to be loose/free above and below the barrel (instead of tied through the trigger guard) why not preload the top side first with bottom wishbone/bridle taught against the muzzle; then pull the bottom wishbone/bridle back to whichever position desired.
With the loading bridle on bottom side of the gun, then there's less drag (just a teeny bit less) for the band to pull when the gun is fired. It's probably not enough to notice any difference in shaft speed, but I'm imagining it would make a neater look. I haven't rigged my kit yet. Just wondering.

Would there be any disadvantage to rig it with the loading bridle (if that's what it's called) on the bottom side of the gun instead of the top side?

launching device. does this mean anything but a pole spear? or anything propelled by a sling (rubber)?
That's debatable. Some interpret "launching device" to mean a trigger. Others insist it's a sling/rubber. Remember that Japanese law is written in Japanese. I don't want to ever be subject to a Japanese judge's interpretation. Being discreet and keeping a low profile is key. Unfortunately, many guys just don't get that.

Do . . . read this:

These work nicely for my long fingers . . . http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KU101TO/
Be aware that they are sold as singles. So, you'll need to buy two for a pair. And like many products on Amazon, the price fluctuates. They were about $13 ea. when I bought mine. Also be aware they are cut resistant, but not puncture proof. -
Thanks, Dan. I look forward to seeing pictures of the aluminum Stealth gun.
-
Sorry I didn't ask my question clearly. Will a RA closed muzzle fit the Stealth aluminum barrel without modifying the RA muzzle?
And another question - are Stealth carbon barrels the same as Speardiver C1 barrels?
Thanks. -
Will a Rob Allen Closed Muzzle fit that barrel?
-
. . . a pair new Speardiver Platinum no hole rubber bands. Just let me know the length and diameter 14mm or 16mm. Keep in mind they're more powerful than the conventional bands with a hole so as not to overpower your gun.
I'm interested to learn more about this!

Dan - your fin blades are advertised as 21 cm wide. Is that the width of the naked blade without footpocket rails, or with?
Thanks, Ben -
For anyone getting confused again about what we're comparing, Chuckd has it exactly right, apples to apples as long as the bands are the same diamter.
And I'd suggest same length bands, and stretched to same percentage. Thoughts?

I found one of the articles, "The Ultimate Rollergun Test" online at this link, but you have to register for the site before you can view it.
Ultimate Spearfishing MagazineAttached is a converted copy with images missing. Also attached is the first page of the other rollergun article from that issue. The second page of the article is just a bit too big for the file size limit to upload here.
-
Why not.
Just checking. Didn't want to break a rule and upset anyone - and was too lazy to read the rules myself. Turns out the file sizes are too big to post here anyway, even when saved as reduced size pdf's. There are two articles on roller guns in that issue. The scanned files are about 1MB and 2MB. Send me your email address if you want them.

Does anybody here subscribe to Ultimate Spearfishing Magazine? I just saw an advertisement about an article comparing/testing roller guns. I don't have any more details than that. Might be worth checking out .
I don't subscribe, but I do have a copy of that issue. I can scan the articles and post them here if that's okay to do. Is it?

. . . ., I study mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech. I graduate in two months.
Oh my! That was my major too, but 30-something years ago - and at Auburn.

reminds me of these . . .

Aaaaaaaw parker-- I think I'll keep this secret to myself a little longer brother. Lets see if someone else can figure out how to EASILY stretch a single stage roller band to over 400% WITHOUT using any mechanicals.
C, I just gave u another clue;)Well, I missed the clue then. I'll be patient, but look forward to learning.
-
Correct you are.
I used that extreme to illustrate how EASY my roller band rigging idea is to achieve over 400% with a roller.Next, we could talk about the advantages / disadvantages of the shorter spear out of a roller gun. :rolleyes1:
Do tell, what is this EASY idea you speak of?

One rail gun and a roller muzzle is all you'd need. It wouldn't take long to swap out the muzzles
Well and bands for each muzzle type. You could even use the same bands (assuming replaceable wishbones.) Conventional way for twin bands - and side-by-side for the roller.
