There were a couple companies that sold kill spikes like that. JBL, Rob Allen and others. I dont see a big difference in using a dedicated spike and using my knife. Just seems like one more thing to carry.

As already mentioned, it reduces the probability of loosing the knife and the knife can stay sharp for when it's really important...

    I use my stringer...

I just realized for the last 30+ years I have been loading my gun wrong.:D;)
I load palms up on all guns.

    Cheers, Don

It seems that you have done well enough :)

Using palms down, you can use your thumbs for that (very) little help at the end (griping in the guns body) or to even to make an adjustment to the wishbone...

Could it be that fish camo only works in very close range? the fish that have camo use it for either protection or to predate but due to water properties, vision is not their best sense, as you mention so for it to work they have to remain motionless.... if camo only works within say (I'm just trowing a number here) 1 or 2 meters, it's relevance for spearfishing could be small...

Just to add to the discussion...

But camo can't hurt and it looks cool :D

hey guys , just spoke to the Police Service regarding importing the speargun. i have to say they were very kind and helpful . it turns out you do need a permit to import the speargun but the permit is not because they view it as dangerous , it is because it looks like a fire arm . what you have to do is supply a picture of the speargun you are going to order and they will supply you with the permit , when it is shipped to Trinidad they will inspect it and make sure it is not a fire arm , then it will be released to you . the permit is not hard to get and you do not have to be at least 25 yrs old like a fire arms permit . i have to say i do support this measure because Trinidad does have a problem with illegal fire arms and crime , but the permit is not difficult to get at all it is more of a heads up for the Police to know that you are importing something that looks like a fire arm [ pneumatic speargun ].

    That sounds fair enough...
I imported a gun from Turkey (yes, it has borders with Iran, Iraq and Syria so it might had something to do with that) and long story short, I had to pay for the police to make an assessment of the "gun" to make sure it wasn't a firearm and that it could be delivered to me after some DHL fees.
Ordered another two that were sent by regular mail (although without the spear) and they arrived just fine.
I really try to avoid DHL, Fedex, UPS when customs will be involved...

As a side note I think that some countries (there's a lot of examples) get an unfair bad image from the media due to some punctual or localized issues that are not representative of the country's people or culture...

Someone on a different spearfishing site said they contacted the listing agent for this and they knew nothing about The information that was posted about this. They also said the place had NOT been sold either. Worse case scenario they said the land around the hole can be developed, but the actual hole itself and access to the hole will never be sold...according to the local government.

Yeah, in most countries, hole selling is illegal :D

I would also go with the 160 cm (personally I would probably use a shorten one) since this allows for a thicker spear with more mass but not much more that would decrease speed too much...
But this comes down to personal preference.... ideally you would try both and see which one you would prefer (I'm not helping :))
