I have one of Mori's slip tips - really top notch. I also thought those were the only two thread Mori used - I don't know the answer but why don't you contact Mori directly assuming Josh doesn't respond quickly. Mori is slow to respond at times but worth asking both of them. Be sure to share the response with us.

I contacted Aaron Crist, He emailed Mori, he thinks it's just 6mm-1 and 5/16-24 threads. For his tip I just doesn't make sense to make the base out of 1/2" stock for the 3/8"-24 thread.

Take a 3/8" gun shaft, do you see any with 3/8"-24 threads? Be a heavy shaft, not use it's even used out there except for custom guns. I don't know thou, guessing.

I post when I hear back from Aaron.

I think its just poor descriptions and Jargon on website.

I just had a request to make a 3/8-24 Male adapter to mount a MORI slip ( that he bought from Josh) on a 7mm gun shaft.

Sounds real strange for Mori to go that big. Note the callout for 3/8 , 11/32 , 5/16 , 9/32 . Looks like a size for sider ring not the thread of the base. check out web link below

I thought Mori just made 5/16-24 Threaded base and 6mm-1.

I told him to call / email Josh but he doesn't always get back very quickly, guy is on tight vacation schedule.

    What say you SPEARDIVER Experts....

Got to keep them tight or you have to replace. If you really want it on there, Get both Male and Female sides really clean, sure some alcohol or a good cleaner. Then use one of the stonger Loctite compounds. If you want to take it off, Better care a couple pairs of Vice grips and a torch to heat it up to break the chemical bonds. Teflon tape is great, but as stated you got to get it tight.

Even the tips that rotate, got to get them tight.

Old WW2 Saying, "Loose Lips Sink Ships" How about "Loose Threads Lose Tips" Can't get it to rhyme....

The flopper concept was interesting. They just didn't ring out some details to make it practical. Good Call out on that one Dan.

There are some changes they could make, let see if they figure it out. On other hand they might have made boxes of parts and not interesting in modifications.

Had a Cressi (not sure of Model) show up at my shop on Friday. Looked pretty good to me. Had a 6mm shaft that was tweaked. I got it a little better but was still off some. We replaced the rubbers on the gun was main deal. I got to tune his flopper too. Diver had no clue about tuning them, he does now.

6mm OD shafts are real flimsy.

Hello all and thank you for your welcome :)

Treebilly3 the age has nothing to do with the prime having passed...it's just the socio-economic state of my country that won't let me dive...Things are getting better though, so hopefully prime times will come again <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x">

You guys seem to be getting better, not hitting headlines in news of late. Not heard if you guys elected new leadership to get you out of the "cradle to grave" mentality.

what's the corporate Tax rate over there? US is not one of the better one's. Burger King moved head quarters to Canada a while back to save on heavy US tax burden.

HAHAHAHA John, that looks great!! Could you make something that work with tricut tips (Rob Allens shafts)? I had to pull the plug on a reef shark a couple of months ago after he tried to bit me :nono:. If I had something like this he would still be swimming.

Maybe... This picture of a different thumper. You will have to file a groove around the shaft so the clip can "snap" in place. if you get it too deep, you will not be able to get the head off.

This is the same concept around the typical swivels we all use. Those just have a deep groove so when assembled it will not come apart.

For this one, just a light radius.

The TriCut can't hit the bottom of the drilled hole without damaging sharpness, you can see the mark on the pencil point. Might have to stuff a softer material in the hole so the tricut can bottom out without damage. hummm, maybe some Aluminum or a softer Delrin. Delrin will wear at a faster rate and cause the head to be more sloppy on the shaft. Probably not an issue for this application. I could form the aluminum with a tricut tip by hammering it in there to provide grooves. Need to think about it.

Note: I had a nice fit on this cap, (oxide wear from taking it on and off playing with it. better shaft diameter better fit you will have.

I could make something up. I'm about a solid week behind on orders right now. Drop me a line.

Those jack crevalle fights are awesome, I personally don't eat them but my partner does.

What is that tip? I'm looking for something like that to blast the sharks without hurting/puncturing them.

It's a 1/2" Cap that snaps on and off with a c-clip spring. Had requests for a tip that could be used to knockout the lion-fish with a hard hit. Think of a Smoking Joe Frazier knockout hit.

I added round knurl to the front so it would have a little grip and not slide off as easy. Not had much feedback from others with same concept in the field.

I guess it could be made out of 5/8",3/4" or maybe 1" stock for more surface area on the hit on a shark.

You almost got the heat treating oxide layer worn off. almost broken in now. That's the only tip I made with the extra grooving to cut a tad off the weight. Still looks good.

You smacked any Lionfish yet with that Trama Cap?

Might be more like a protective cover. Got speciality parts in yesterday for the speargun slip tip. I'll keep you posted.

Linghunt---many spearos, research and past experiences lead many spearos to believe that removing the snorkel from ones mouth while underwater lessens the likelihood of drowning if the spearo has a SWB
    hope this helps

thanks for intell. I thought most SWB would happen post dive in like 3-5 min. I would think the diver would be back using the snorkel again while on surface. Perhaps you are referring to the % of accidents when diver is underwater. I'll do some reading on it to educate myself better.

I never push myself. If I'm underwater for 60 seconds, that's a long dive for me. I don't like having the need for air in my diving, by pushing it farther. Then again, I only go 30 foot at the most at my age now. I don't hyperventilate.

Remember I'm in cold murky water as well with swells and surf. This year hasn't been too bad, but typically have a dozen drownings off the Northern CA coast each year. Most of those I think are from panic and kelp tangles over SWB. Lots of folks diving for abalone that should not be in the water. This is a hazardous coast line.

I got a Florence Green snorkel, I wrapped yellow bands of top on top for buddies to spot me on surface. The green on the bottom reflected in my eyes, I wrapped it with some type of black rubber tape, it's perfect now.

I don't like purge valves nor the springy tube corrugated material either, I like a super basic snorkel, and a good mouth fit is important to me.

I've toss all of those type snorkel I have had.

I never kick the snorkel out of my mouth either, I see many doing it, doesn't make any sense to me.
