Why the Riffe mech, just out of curiousity? Wouldn't it have been easier to fit a Neptonics or something like that?
Exceptionally beautiful gun, though. I really love the lines and the handle!
Damn John, looking at that picture continues to bring back memories of picking off calicos at SCI. I never should've given you that thing back. I'm writing Daryl and telling him to send you a new muzzle for it!
Is that your handle? Is it based off the 1911?
Do you sell to the public?
The metal handle is from Neptonics. The poly handles are Phil's design, and close to that of a 1911, and he does the panels in different thicknesses to accomodate different size hands.
And Phil does sell to the public. He has a website, http://herranenspearguns.com, and will spend time talking to you about what you want and what kind of things he can do for you. If you're in the market for something new that no one else has, Phil is your guy!
mmmmmm... Water ballasted carbon fiber. I may kill you and steal it while I'm there. Just saying...
So rad! Way to go, Dave!
Dave uses a Hyperfin, but I can't remember from which manufacturer. And yes, it's fiberglass.
I know a prominent California diver had to basically shoehorn his 46-48 Picasso pockets onto his feet, then blast them with a heat gun until they stretched out and fit. Said he never had any issues with tearing, which I found surprising.
Nice. Who's boat did you head out on, if you don't mind my asking?
Nice AJ, dude. I'm stoked you're finally able to get back out.
Sweet! I have my first 4 day weekend in a LONG time, and we're coming down strictly looking for good dives and some fish.
Dan, i'll definitely be in touch. I've still got your number, I'll give you a hollar when we get closer.
Our last 2 trips down to Florida haven't been very productive, so I was wondering if myself and a buddy came down that way over the 4 day, if someone wouldn't mind showing us where all the fish are down there. We were thinking about trying up north in the Canaveral area, but I get way too excited when I see the pics of clear water and fish you guys post, and I'd like to see what it's all about!
There's no sharks in Stillwater...
OK, maybe one or two.
What's up, brother? Miss me yet?
Nice haul, dude. Man, I miss those days. I wanna go back out to Carmel and blast another huge red...
Thank you, Harold...
Jeff, great work. Phil Herranan did the same thing for me on an old Riffe 0, but on a little more simple scale. Cut a section of pipe, and attached a Neptonics frame to it, and molded a plastic handle to that. I wish I still had the gun to show you pics.
Looks amazing. I've tried shore diving in Florida a few times now, but it looks like I've been doing it wrong! I may just be in touch soon. I'm supposed to go to Cocoa Beach the first weekend in September, but I may just make the trek and head your way!
The Chayito! I loved the story behind that gun. That's pretty awesome.
Oh, thanks for reminding me. i need to change that...
Mike, how does the stiffness really compare, and how are the footpockets? I've been curious about the Professionals, but haven't had the chance to get my hands on a pair yet.
