Judah, it was a last minute trip to Baja last week. And yes, got some kick left, but barely. It was a rude awakening… I definitely had to rely on my limited intelligence over physical ability…

    Thanks.

I drilled a .25" hole trough my OMER exclusive mask and attached it with a .5" long screw to one of the try-pod type mounts… Only problem is when you kick up hard, the suction gets broken and your mask floods pretty bad. Really sucked when it happen as I pushed off the bottom at 70' and completely flooded my mask for the entire way up…

Post is all iMovie stuff. Some of the cuts are pretty sloppy, as I wasn't zoomed in enough on the time line, hence some overlapping occasionally.

I agree with your sentiments in general, but I have to call you guys out on being a little oversensitive in this particular example.

You have to read it in context; it's an interview where he is asked about a bad dive trips. Of all the times he's been to baja, he only has had one. The roads in baja do tend to be narrow, and there are lots of sketchy ones. Be honest with yourself. The wildness of that part of Mexico, and yes, I have been there myself, is part of what makes it attractive. I think you are reading into it way to much.

Anyways, just my 2 cents on that particular example you used...

Welcome bearded bandit. Lets hit zombies(jc's favorite dive spot, but I'll let him explain that...) again sometime soon.

Judah, good catch, that was me holding up a fresh hoo. We killed it that day, ended up with a bunch of blackfin, and that wahoo and were back at the dock by 9 am...

    sweet porgy :)

I had to make him pay. He would sneak up on me every time my head was turned. Then he would teleport out of range when I would look at him. I timed his routine, and nailed him straight through the eye. They make such good fish sandwiches. 😛

    Hi guys,

It's been a while since I got to shoot some fish, and 10 days Hawaii diving every day left me itching to kill something. So when judah(lunkerbuster) asked me if I was down for a early afternoon shore dive out of Hollywood, I was all over it.

I decided to drag the wife and daughter along, and make it a family affair. The water was calm, and relatively clear inside of 20ft. deeper than that, and vis drastically went down. Fish were out, and as soon as I reached the 1st reef line, I was bussed by about 50 Spanish mackerel. Pretty cool to be reminded how it feels being schooled. After landing a Mack, we continued on, but found vis getting worse the further out we went, that combined with the moronic boat drivers, made us stay shallow. Soon after turning around, I spotted a large eye from the surface, peeking out from behind a seafan, nothing else. It only beings 20' made the stalk kinda hard, so I just dive bombed. Once halfway done it became clear it was a good sized gag grouper, and he wanted nothing to do with me and started taking off. I used a large coral head as cover to close the distance, and made a long spine shot. The shaft did not penetrate the spine, and I watched in horror as the fish took off without my flopper engaging. He finally managed to shake the shaft, and holed up under the coral head I had just used as cover. Not wanting to give him a chance to relocate, I used Judah's gun to place a 2nd shot, and the fish was in the bag. 28" gag in 20' at one of soflo's busiest beaches in the middle of summer. Who would have thought. Judah managed a few nice eating fish as well, and I'm sure he'll chime in to give some details.

Coming back in we apparently had a shark trailing us, and the lifeguard cleared the water. People on the beach we pretty excited. I never saw the shark, but people said he was right behind us. Go figure.

    Thanks Dan,

It is a mirrorless system, allowing for a much smaller body as where a true DSLR would operate with a mirror to present the image in the viewfinder, and then drop that mirror when taking a picture, exposing the sensor...

There was a great deal on these with the housing included, and I was looking for something that responded faster without the bulk of my work camera(which also I also can't afford a housing for....) to take on trips.

Its a different category of camera. Its responds faster and has changeable lenses. Picture quality is slightly better due to the much larger sensor, although the lowest ISO is 200 as compared to 80 on the S100. It is much more versatile.

Here is a link to some topside pics: with the same camera:

I'll be getting a dome port for the housing and an 8mm fish eye in the future.

    Hi Guys,

So I just got back from Maui. It was a none spearing trip with the wife, but I did get in the water quite a bit.

It was the first chance I had to really give my new camera and housing a go in clear water, and had a blast doing so. The honu (turtles) were out in force, and I got to play with a few dozen over the course of a week.

The camera rocks. Although not quite a DSLR, the 4/3 mirror less system has almost no shutter lag and shoots a decent 4.5 FPS continuous. The lenses are changeable, so its pretty versatile... I didn't use any strobes, so all pics are natural light.

Here is a link to some of the UW pics from the trip, I'm still sorting through them, so more to follow:

I attached a few teaser shots for those to lazy to link out ;)

    Enjoy,
