Sorry for not posting in such a long time. I spent more time in the woods than in the water last fall. So this weekend I dusted off the gear and spent some time picking abalone and shooting fish. Saterday the weather was warm and sunny and the water was dark and murky. The fish were nowhere to be found so me and fatty spent the afternoon getting our limit of abs. Then this morning I went out and the water had cleared up a bit. I was lucky enough to find this lingcod after having missed a larger one. So out of practice! Feels so nice to be getting back out there!

So if I'm reading that right if he would of used a bow and arrow it'd be legal to shoot that tuna? Always get a kick out of reading hunting and fishing regs from other states.

How do you cook your greenlings? Iv tried them a few times but wasn't impressed. I'm up to try them again if you have any suggestions

Welcome.
I'd be interested to hear your technique for getting octopus out of holes. -
I use the wenoka ez lock titanium and love it. I'm on my second one after loosing the first. Like stated above it doesn't hold an edge very well but it still works fine for killing fish and cutting line. Iv used it to cut 400lb mono from the rocks with no problems to get my shaft back.

Do you ever see Leopard seals in the water?
Cheers, Don
Wrong hemisphere. We only see harbor seals and steller sea lions with the odd elephant seal now and then.

Well guess it's off to the party store to get dive gear. That'll be a first.

A clicker for calling fish?

Nice write up. They're one of my favorites too!
Rock scallops are also common threw out southeast Alaska so that source was a little off.
I didn't actually realize people measured them and that there was a record for the largest one out there. Guess I'll have to measure the big ones we get from time to time. 9" is the spread of my hand and iv gotten more than a few over the years that were over that. Lots of virgin rocks around hear though! Most people here don't pick much below the tide line. -
Another cool video! Nice looking fish.

Good looking gun.

What about one of the other ocean kayaks like the prowler 13 angler? it's in that weight range, comes with rod holders and it's still being made. I don't own one but I too have been looking at the ocean kayaks.
