nice day out, like you said lots of large yet smart fish out and about. had a nice shot on what would prob be my largest hog, but heard a shot go off underwater in the distance and the hog got spooked. found my lost mask from last sunday,, very nice coincidence saved me $70

its cool thanks for tryin, im surprised u even tryed considerin marine cops were eager to get ya movin,, appreciate it. ,, in alll honesty even that didnt ruin how nice the water was.. although given a couple more hours im sure the day would of produced some awesome fish

10am meade area.. damn near a perfect day. vis was good, ocean was a lake.
marine patrol managed to knock my mask and some gear off kayak with their wake,, and apparently u have to physically have your fishing license on you.

Until now ive always dove without weights. I wear no wetsuit (at least not in the summer months). Today i got a rubber weight belt and 2 weights (2 pounds) in the mail that i ordered earlier this week. i tested it out and seems to be perfect. i spread the weights on the belt so that they sit as far apart from one another as possable but still rest against my back. I float at the surface while swimming and with jsut a little ducking downward sink well. Just wondering what kind of set ups yall are using.

i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with H. Dessault foot pockets. comfortabiltiy, durability, etc. would it be hard to find blades that might fit it down the line if i ever need or want to swap? also has anyone ever owned a pair of mako brand fins or had any experience using them?
    mucho mucho gracias

Vis decent, could see bottom relatively clear from surface at about 25-30 feet depth.
    Current was ripping though
Groupers were out in force, but all looked a few inches shy of legal. Lots of yellow tail snappers also.

i read today that most of the affects of the hurricane would hit no further south than palm beach because the bahamas will block that ocean activity in south florida, although it seems were bound to feel something

well to look at it that way we should all be free shafting, bit im really nervous about the HIV virus.. really though that kind of danger is inherent when using any type of set up other than no set up at all. No matter what if a fish takes a quick circle around u or if u were to entangle urself jsut by swimming or situating urself after placing a shot, its alol the same, judge rather u can free the entaglemnt with the amount of air u have in ur body or cut the line. i could see how at least with a float line its constantly keeping itself taught jsut be being bouyant, so thats a bonus

well up until now ive always jsut worked with the short shooting line that was on my pos JBL,, and i figured anything mmore than that would be a bonus
and it seems to me like a floatline would be combersome and problematic
my biggest hope was that the reel might eliminate the shooting line,, but if thats not the case then i may jsut stay with the status quo..

So, with everyone's advice I've decided against the omer speargun. That handle and mechanism body does seem a bit thin in places, I could see where problems might arise. Monday I'm going to order a speargun, and would like to get a reel with it. I'm not entirely sure how reels work on spearguns though.
Do you still have a shooting line that then connects to the reel line? or does the reel line connect directly with the spear and u just set the drag after successfully landing a shot? also with the open and closed muzzle option I'm not sure which way to go. My last speargun was a closed muzzle, but i really have no preference? open seems more straightforward and adaptable to me.
    Thanks for any advice.
