I switch between hammerhead and a riffe euro frequently. I aim them the same way and have no problems. I've never used a breakaway but i've also never heard of it changing the point of impact. For me anytime I shoot something that's not a railgun/euro I hit 12' low. Trying to sight in a new gun on fish can be super frustrating. Try some target practice preferably in a pool and tell us how it goes. If its still not working out you can try a shorter overhang, that brings up the point of impact for me.

Saw that on FB... it would take me years to shake that off. I'm assuming he'll go right back to surfing those guys are tough.

Hey guys, I live in broward and want to head down to marathon this weekend for some spearing. I have room for one on my zodiac and no clue where to go. Let me know if you know some spots and want a ride. I prefer the deep stuff. Thanks, Matt

Crazy... how big do you think it was?

I've got a 12 foot kayak leaning against the wall of a 400 square foot studio apartment. After a while you dont even notice it but..... everyone else sure does.

I'm looking to explore the north palm beach area. Any local safe and knowledgeable divers want to show me around? I've got room for one this thursday. thanks, Matt

Any idea on the diameter of that shaft?

Nice fish and boat. I've paddled a kestrel 140 and it ruined me completely. My Ocean Kayak feels like a hunk of driftwood in comparison...

nice, i was in wilmington for several years. When i moved to florida it was a big adjustment. the visability here freaked me out. i could dive 80 feet in 4 foot vis all day but even swimming off the beach here i spent more time looking behind me. the murk turned out to be a security blanket of sorts. The diving up there is unbelievable if you can get offshore. NC breeds some badass divers soak it up while you're there.

where abouts in NC? I started spearing up there...

Nearly all of the black margate i see are very nervous. I try to avoid spooking them when im on the reef bc they can be really loud when they flee. I'm no expert on the taste as I've only eaten one and don't really remember. I wouldn't go as far to say the big ones are easy pickens haha.

Thanks guys, usually I wrap the fillets up in tin foil with fresh garlic and lemon slices then toss it on the grill

I've had mine for a good few months and love it. I only picked up a small pneumatic because I'd be out cruising the surface and see barracudas or large grouper that was just too spooked. I love the hunt though. Fast, reliable, but it is really long
Yeah I hear you man. I've been trying to get close to this one black grouper for a while now. Even cocking the spear 40 feet above him sends him running. Guns definitely have their place... Most of my spearing has been done with a 10 foot Gatku but that was in NC and I was mainly hunting deep ship wrecks. Since I've been down here there have been just a few times that the extra length has caught a sea fan or something on the reef while trying to track a fish. I kinda forced myself to start using my 8 footer and I think I can say it's a great length for down here. For me switching to the Headhunter was an easy transition as I'm used to the length.
