aimrite uses rubber stoppers (a very tight fit) .there is no need to worry about the amount of water that will enter threw the fibers it will never be measurable in the tube .thats just something engineers worry about, in the world of spearguns i have never found it to be a problem they just dont spend enuff time it the water

Aimrite started doubble plugging my tubes because of the depths that I dive. Using a doubble plug and some 5200 will eliminate any problems that may occur from deep diving pressure.

    I know I'm probably splitting hairs, but here's my take . . .

Different oils serve different purposes. In this case, you want the oil to reduce the heat due to friction, and to absorb some of the heat that is generated. But some oils (like motor oil) are formulated with additional additives that are intended specifically to prevent two metal surfaces from contacting. That's not optimal when you WANT the cutting edge to bite.

So while motor oil, WD-40, and many others will work a lot better than nothing, I find that pipe threading oil or a similar cutting oil works better still.

What Jeff said:toast: You need the drill bit to bite, not burn. Slow and steady will get the job done. It take patience or a lot of broken bits to drill a shaft.

    We need to find him a SA distributor <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x">

    Marco,

I have yet to bend a 7.5mm Rob Allen shaft. Granted, most of the fish i shoot are usually hurt a lot so they cant run to their full potential. I don't think i have shot a fish in the tail in a long time.

I bent one today on a 15 lb Yellow Jack. It was brand new. At lest it wont get rusty.:@

Coated shafts are junk. Once the coating wears off you are shooting a rusty piece of metal through your dinner,:@
The tip and trigger notch are the first to rust and then the rest of the shaft where it slides down the track. 17/4 Spring Stainless that is properly hardend is the best shaft material on the market. Cheaper is not always better.:toast:
I prefer Astroglide on my shaft before any serious spearing.

I have had good luck with the Omer gear that I have owned. The Alien Mask is awesome.:toast:The rubber weight belt is perfect:toast:The Floatline was great:toast:The Wetsuit Gloves are good:toast:The reels are good.:toast:
I have owned multiple OMER products over the years with good service. Many of my friends love their foot pockets and wetsuits. Mark has always been friendly to me at different tournaments even though I always used Brand X Guns.^^ He and his dad are also big supporters of our sport.
Anyway, dive gear breaks and wears out. Not everybody has had the same results as I have with Omer. To each his own I say.

that depends on where you dive and if you let fish wrap it around a wreck or coral . i still have the first float line i ever bought ,its a riffe floatline i bought when at least 15 years ago it is still dry inside and is the line that is in my loaner gear box ,i have since switched to neptonics gear but if hadn't i would still be using it . poly starts starts getting beat after a couple months of light use . if you spend $10 on poly every 4 months
you will spend the same as buying a real line every year and a half to 2 years

    Phil,
I have bought several Riffe "Sink Lines" in the past. After a few trips they fill with water and sink. Maybe it is because of the depth I dive, the size of the fish I shoot, or just fact that I use my gear a lot. I now use Rob Allen or Neptonics float lines with no problems. They fray from time to time, but I just hit them with a lighter and they keep working. I know these lines do not work in the kelp, but here in Florida and in open Bluewater they work fine.:toast:

Larry was a good friend to many in our small circle. I sent him this e-mail a couple of weeks ago...

"Larry, my prayers are with you. You are a "Tough Guy" and I expect full well for you to beat this. Your own inner strength and the strength of your circle of friends will have you up and around in no time. These are not soft words but rather words for you to know that everything will be better in another couple of weeks. "Stay thirsty my friend and remember to drink Dos Equis" Hahahhah!! "

I was truely saddened by the news I received this morning. Cheers Larry:toast::toast:
