incredible diving and hunting, the bottom structure there is amazing!

very cool, interesting how he came up to the boat like that. Hopefully someday they open up a season for them.

I have decided to sell my Ray Odor polespear since it has just sat in my garage since I bought a speargun. For those who aren't familiar with them it is a 6' solid aluminum polespear, with the 30" tip it is 8.5' overall. I painted it a blue-green camo color that blends in with South florida waters pretty well. I have at least one band for it possibly a second I can't recall but if I have a spare I'll include it. I'd like to get $50 for it with the tip, $30 without. Shipping not included. Local pickup available in Coral Springs.

Rolo, I hear it tastes similar to hogfish any insight on this?

hopefully, awareness will spread and more people will take them. Someday I want to hear reports of people on the forum making lionfish for dinner.

That happens occasionally to me, I grab the tip of my fin and pull it towards my hip, stretching the bottom of the foot. I notice it more when I'm dehydrated or finning very hard or both.
*Disregard* just saw your follow up post. Mine always happen where Dan's photo shows, never closer to my toes.

Happy Birthday!

That was a great read! I'm glad you liked it, but keep it away from your friends... I brought a batch to work that was equal to yours and it was gone in under 30 minutes....

From what I've seen on the forum almost everybody has pursuit carbon fins, the only other carbon fins I recall are the c4's

It seems good to me, last time I had a mac rip off but I couldn't quite tell where the shot placement was. Today the shot wasn't where I wanted it, I was chasing and took a long shot (he was fleeing and I was in pursuit and he just started to curve left) I know it hit him in the spot and should have traveled through him and come out almost mid body on the other side. He took off and was pulling out my reel line as I swam for the surface. He slowed to a stop and then took off again when it came loose. I could see him at the bottom as I tried to reload and reel in my line. At this time a hog (bigger than my mutton - which made me mad) came over and checked out the commotion. Both fled before I could reel up and reload.

I started at 11 today conditions were great, seas less than 1', viz was 40+ went to an area that's in between two areas I frequent, found out there is a lot less traffic around there and subsequently more fish. When I started out I had horrible indigestion and kept burping and couldn't hold my breath very well, but I got that sorted out pretty quickly. I went as deep as 40' today and found a mutton but it ripped off - really pissed me off as that's the first mutton I've shot but couldn't land it. I need to work on my shot placement because that's 2 fish in 2 trips that have come off. I saw a total of 3 shootable hogs but never got a good shot. Grouper were everywhere today, most were undersized, mainly between 14-18 inches but I did find a 20-22 inch black that was very human friendly. Hopefully he'll change his ways or he's going to end up on my dinner plate in the future. The highlight of the day was a 24" red grouper that holed up as soon as he saw me but over the course of the next three dives I got a good shot on him right behind the gill plates. It then took another 2 dives to work him out of the reef. Small sea turtles were everywhere

If you don't mind me asking, why hasn't his boat run since? He just didn't bother paying for that expensive ECU? Or no one could get it running again?
I've been tossing and turning in bed at night trying to decide whether to just shell out the bucks and get twin 40s or 50s, or just fix this motor. I was pretty tempted to get Enduro 40 Yamahas yesterday. Only $8000 for a pair but they suck a lot of gas. Twice what my ETEC would burn. Twin 4 stokes would cost twice that and they aren't flawless. Seems a lot of people have problems with them here because of dirty gas. ??
Well, I have to get it running at least so I can sell it. We'll see.I think the ignition box for his motor was about $1000 installed (he's a captain so he knows people in the marina) He doesn't use his boat much because he can "wet test" the 68' hatteras he captains several times a week depending on whats going on with it. It has sat ever since because he doesn't see the need to fix it because his boat wouldn't get used that much anyway.... 68' hatteras vs. 17' Dusky, you decide haha.

Had an interesting day yesterday. We were a mile from our spot, 24 miles out and my ETEC 90 died. It seems the ECU burned or something. No spark. Lucky for us there was an east wind blowing so we tied the bimini top in a vertical position and "sailed" back to the barrier reef. About 5 miles outside the reef we got cell phone coverage and texted for a friend to come and get us.
Just as we got to the cut, also one of our favorite spots, we thought we might get to jump and and get a fish or two, but the boat showed up 5 minutes later.
I found the part I need is US$2000....holy shit !!
It took us 3 hours to sail my skiff about 8.7 miles. hah. What a day....Same thing happened to my friends etec 90 last year the second day of miniseason luckily it was at the ramp. his boat hasn't run since... he's coming out on my boat this year.
