OK so I've owned my boat for almost a year (96 proline cc). Me and the other owners (3 way buy) have been working on names we can all agree on, but they are few and far between. I'm trying to come up with something fitting for the story of how it came to be but am drawing blanks. The story on her is: my g/f's uncle bought it new at the ft laud boat show back in 96. ran her for 12 years on fair weather days only until one day hes in the intercaostal and the oil alarm goes off. he parks the boat for 2 years because he says "the engine doesn't run". We buy her for the steal of $3500 (I say steal because come to find out the oil pump is shot, so we go to premix fuel and its fixed). Problem solved runs like a charm (comp test shows 120-125 on all six cylinders). So after several trials letting her idle in the driveway with the muffs and even some light use in the C-14 canal we decide were going to go out fishing. We load up on bait, ice, beer, etc... Put it in the intercoastal, idle out to the inlet, punch it but it dies has soon as the throttle comes up. Now were drifting dead in the water across a shoal on the south side of the inlet as I scramble to figure out the problem and get it rectified. Luckily it was high tide so we drift over cleanly but are now headed for the beach. By now I've figure out its a clogged fuel filter from 2 years sitting. Anchor is thrown to avoid drifting aground but its just dragging... so I remove filter and back flow it using the squeeze ball reinstall and we get it fired up and idle back to the ramp - very hectic 20 minute boat ride. It was our first time out on the ocean without someone with any kind of real boating experience. That has since been fixed and now it runs great. Next item on the to-do list is a name - its never had one. I've been trying to come up with something catchy/witty that kind of tells the story of how it came to be and our initial venture. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I have seen a rib with a bimini although I didn't get a close look at how it was done.

I agree with Judah. That sleeping indian is like a little brother to grandfather mountain in NC, very cool.

Very nice!

I use the dremel to make the area that is rubbing a little less sharp or rough. It doesn't really remove much material. Just makes it less abrasive
I'll have to put the fins on and see if I can find out wear my toes are actually hitting. After 4 hours in the water today it looks like its just my left ring toe, hopefully its just something in that fp.
-
I've noticed the fp is loose up in the toe box but is perfectly comfortable everywhere else, I don't think the dremel idea would work because that would allow more movement but maybe I'm not understanding exactly what you guys are saying.
Dan if I can't get this fixed I'll be in touch for some footpockets. If you could please PM your number or give me a call/text, I just got an Iphone and lost about everything.

Does anyone have anything they do to prevent or reduce the likelihood of blisters? I dive at least once a week with lycra socks and h dessault pockets, but for as long as I can remember I've always gotten blisters on my middle and ring toes right between the knuckle and the nail. I've tried athletic tape but it doesn't hold up underwater and I've tried thicker socks.

for the reef I like a short(90-110) gun with a reel and a single wrap and am going to try a 19mm band instead of 2 16's. I find that I encounter schools of fish while on the reef and the ability to reload quickly is invaluable. I prefer a reel because I shoot mostly small fish(under 10 pounds) and dont dive deep. For bluewater I will switch to a float setup, but inside 50' with 150' of reel line I feel comfortable. If you beach dive then the line that you carry for your flag/float can just be attached to your gun eliminating excess gear. But if you yak or boat dive and your flag setup is anchored then a reel might be nice because its less for you to drag through the water. I can actually tell the difference when im diving with my floatline boogy board setup vs. when I dive off my boat with nothing attached to me. granted its minimal but it is noticeable. Chest loading vs. hip loading is your preference, hip loading is definately nicer if you ask me, but I chest load because thats the gun I have. My next gun will be a hiploading bluewater setup though.

Welcome! I can't be of any service finding areas but get out and practice yaking and maybe you'll find some on your own.
-
I can overnight you some packed in dry ice...

Welcome! I tried the jacks once but found nasty water, the buoys at commercial are overfished so there usually isn't much there. Venture out more and some can be found, although macs are thick in the 30' range. If your out there and find a euro shaft with about ten feet of blue 400lb mono attached id love to have it back. haha

i'll be out in the boat tomorrow, I'm not sure I can dive due to a cold but want to get in the water and check out some areas

Display More
"at least" 12x12, I'm guessing the smallest dimension must be 12" if you were making one.
Florida Statute 327.331
(c) “Divers-down flag” means a flag that meets the following specifications:
1. The flag must be square or rectangular. If rectangular, the length must not be less than the height, or more than 25 percent longer than the height. The flag must have a wire or other stiffener to hold it fully unfurled and extended in the absence of a wind or breeze.
2. The flag must be red with a white diagonal stripe that begins at the top staff-side of the flag and extends diagonally to the lower opposite corner. The width of the stripe must be 25 percent of the height of the flag.
3. The minimum size for any divers-down flag displayed on a buoy or float towed by the diver is 12 inches by 12 inches. The minimum size for any divers-down flag displayed from a vessel or structure is 20 inches by 24 inches.I knew I remembered something about the stripe but a quick search didnt yield any results, thanks seaweed

You like Monty Python Mike? Made me go and watch Search for the holy grail. After a drink I noticed the subtitles at the beginning for the first time, had me LOL. Those guys are really zany.
they're nuts, i've seen several of their movies and they're all insanity but holy grail is my favorite.

heree it is from myfwc.org:
Divers-down Flag
The size of divers-down flags displayed on vessels must be at least 20 inches by 24 inches, and a stiffener is required to keep the flag unfurled. Dive flags carried on floats must be at least 12 inches by 12 inches. Also, divers-down flags on vessels must be displayed above the vessel's highest point so that the flag's visibility is not obstructed in any direction.
Divers must make reasonable efforts to stay within 300 feet of a divers-down flag on open waters (all waterways other than rivers, inlets, or navigation channels) and within 100 feet of a flag within rivers, inlets, or navigation channels.
Vessel operators must make a reasonable effort to maintain a distance of at least 300 feet from divers-down flags on open waters and at least 100 feet from flags on rivers, inlets or navigation channels. Vessels approaching divers-down flags closer than 300 feet in open water and 100 feet in rivers, inlets and navigation channels must slow to idle speed.
When divers are out of the water, a dive flag may not be displayed.
FWC Divers-Down Flag Safety VideoI don't recall where I saw it but I believe I saw something about stripe width once before and how it has to be proportionate to flag size.
