6' odor with 30" flopper tip - first spear I bought does the job very well, slower than most but certainly very usable. hits like a freight train so it could take down the biggest of fish( i hit a mac so hard once it traveled the length of the tip, the 5/8" shaft penetrated and the fish stopped at the grip tape)

7' homemade with paralyzer tip - measures 8'3" total, still working on how to stiffen it. very fast with a 1/2" band. When I let friends borrow my polespears most like this one best.

kona beers does the same thing.

the one i just popped says: paniolo=cowboy

I think the key to finding the right name should be to drink lots of hawaiian beer until we find what we're looking for under the cap.

odors are slow but I got by with mine just fine, when your in the area I can let you try it out. for the price I dont think it can be beat.

Dan I know the lobsters walk at night here but its easiest to find them using a boat with underwater lights and drive slowly until you can see them on the bottom. I lobster alot and most of it is never deeper than 15 feet but its taken some time to find the spots. Dan on our local reefs they start to poke their heads out around dusk which is what made for scenario I described earlier where I ended up being out past dark. during the day (unless im in the keys) they are usually hit or miss and I just scan as im looking for fish.

somethings backordered or something ridiculus its been a long painstaking process the new one should be here this week or something. Im tired of the BS I keep hearing so I'll post back when I get it. Its mainly the watch repair facility more than timex I think. The replacement I got from the ebay seller is working great without a hitch.

you guys are the only people ive ever heard of that freedive at night, i couldnt imagine doing that here in fl.

I made the mistake of staying on an awesome lobster hole until after dark here in broward. The swim back to shore was the most eerie feeling ive ever experienced. there were 2 of us and one little flashlight, its not something Ill ever do again without my boat or more lights.

I heard today that the blacktip migration is going on now as well. my friend is fishing a blacktip tournament at the end of february so there are still days for the rest of us to get out and see such a phenomenon

I agree with Hau. I went trolling offshore due to the man-o-wars all along the beach. I went as far north as deerfield beach and south to port everglades and offshore to 1000+' and they are everywhere. anyone going out use extreme caution!

hopefully somebody else got out today, I dove central broward and conditions were beautiful! unfortunately I got to the beach and realized I forgot my gun and weight belt :S OOPS. Figured Id already driven 35 minutes and paid the meter so I just went snorkeling. Saw lots of shootable fish including 2 grouper(stupid closure) 1 hog, 1 mac, 5 big sheepsheads, and dozen of nice black margates. ended up getting 2 lobsters and had a great 4 hours on the water.

hau was the water really green near you today? I trolled offshore today but did have my spear gear with me so I could come in and check conditions/see what route we wanted to pursue. Between the broward inlets I only saw green water with viz matching the depth and not much more.

manny lives here locally in south florida. I myself and friends have seen him out in the swamps with his buddies screwing around even when the cameras arent on him. hes cool but definately nuts

it was developed in the 90's for hunting huge shit in africa. Granted its a huge round the design of the gun is the faulty part, a muzzel brake, semi auto version, long "bull" barrel would all help with recoil and barrell jump. the bullet itself is the same size as .50 bmg bullet however this has a bigger diameter and more powder by the looks of things. I think .50 cal rifles weigh in at around 35 lbs whereas the only gun I could look up for the .577 is like 14 pounds.

I too am not a pro and know the frustrations involved with getting started. I agree that you need to learn the rules for the area and stay fairly shallow. Always try to have a partner with you and if you invest in quality gear it will last you several years if not more. I am assuming that in your area a wetsuit will be required for most if not all of the year. I own one of Dans 3mm suits and love it but that may not be enough in your area. If you search around here you'll quickly find that everything Dan sells is quality and worth every penny. That being said Pursuit obviously isn't the only gear line out there. Ill put a link at the bottom that compares some of my starter gear to some of the pursuit stuff at the bottom of the page. Most importantly know your limits and dive safe/smart.

anybody beach diving tomorrow? I had to swap my days off from thurs to wed for a big parts order Ive got coming in. Thought Id try a last minute beach dive if anyone is intereseted. PM me or call 9548038727

haha when I H&L fish the sicker I get the better Ive done. In my mind the more chum in the water the more fish come to the boat
