Went out today hoping that it would get better but it stayed rough all day.
Still not many fish on the shallow reef but I lucked out and found 2 hogs in 4 hours of swimming.:)

mrmike--sometimes it may seem like I get a lot of fish, but that is because I am lucky to be able to spend 4 to 8 hours a day in the water. This day I spend 4 hours in the water for 2 under 20in hogs.

  • If this week turns out as forecasted, "fish r gonna die"

At the beginning of the dive there was fog down almost to the water with no sun through so the reef was dark till the fog lifted. I went out to the limit of the surface viz at 30f and hunted shallower than I wanted and only found 1 19in hog. The light seas made for an easy swim
    First day with Omer ET95
I'm using my Pursuit 5mm open cell top and 3mm open cell farmer john bottoms and staying warm for 8 hours no problem.

  • Could you post some pics of the Omer ET95? Also how does it compare to the your previous ETPG in terms of tracking through the water, weight etc?

Today started out cold and almost clear sky with 35f viz
Then it clouded up a little and did not really warm up as much as I had hoped, but the sea state remained good till noon.
I only got 2 hogs and a mac today, but saw several fishing boats working outside the 3rd reef. Maybe some fish are starting to come into the third reef or so in the next few days

  • Adrian--the Omer 95 ET is a short, light weight gun compared to the Mako ETR and my Tin Man /RA ETPG.
So a true comparison is not really possible as the Mako is more of a heavy weight 2 -3 band physically bigger gun than the Tin Man ET, and the Omer is only 95cm and shots a 6.75mm spear. That said, the Omer is a real pleasure in the water. It has NO muzzle flip on firing, floats perfectly flat on the surface with the spear out and is almost weightless in the water and neutral bouyant with the spear in and a full spool of line on the Omer 50 reel. I prefer a round barrel pipe/rail gun, so the tracking is not perfect for me with the cuttlefish shaped barrel of the Omer. You can swim for hours holding the Omer by the handle if you wanted, the balance is that near perfect in the water.
I will write more as I get more time in the water with the Omer.
Let me know if I can help further.

PS-- I'll try to post pictures of the Omer 95 ET, but a youtube search of the Omer Cayman ET might be faster considering my computer skills:rolleyes:

  • hau was the water really green near you today? I trolled offshore today but did have my spear gear with me so I could come in and check conditions/see what route we wanted to pursue. Between the broward inlets I only saw green water with viz matching the depth and not much more.

  • Which ones shoots quieter? I ask because I know the Mako and the Tin Man gun have a composite type of enclosed track and the omer I believe is all aluminum. Thank you.
