Great pics and Vid, are you selling the boat to upgrade or are you getting out of boating?

Nice collection Dan! That last one you posted looks like a reloading nightmare

Excellent work steven, I need to try to find more places like that so when were on the boat we can be more productive. at least were efficient at getting in and out of the boat and anchoring...

How deep? see any hogs?

I found this pretty funny, this happened at FAU today. She was later tasered and arreseted.

You might want to try google earth

Today I cut the blank to length(63"), it will be 189cm tip to tip; again trying to tie the 1890 theme into it a bit. It will be big, but I think it will be perfect for BW hunting. I ordered a full length UHMW track, so when that arrives I will cut the dovetail for it and install it. I believe I have everything gathered or on the way to finish this up and will hopefully have it ready for summer dolphin season!

I think I will try to roundover the bottom and ends this week, I want to leave the top square until I can cut the groove for the track and the hole for the mech. To start I'm going to try three small ID 16mm bands but will enlarge the band slot and add a fourth if it seems underpowered. Band stretch will be ~51" from the rear band to the rear tab.

sounds like a badass trip! how many days do you expect it to take to get there with spearing stops?

Like you said Dan they are not illegal and are installed on many vehicles that are driven by handicapped or amputee drivers where the throttle and brake is controlled in one hand by a lever and the knob greatly aids them in one handed steering. We see them quite frequently come through the dealership and they are handy although I haven't found it necessary in my everday driving.

^ Thats the type of ladder I recommend they are by far the best I've used however without a platform it can get a little difficult climbing straight from the top step over the transom. Brian I included a link/pic that shows what I would try to do with starboard and a good ladder.
P.S. look on craigslist and ebay I got everything for my setup there for like $100-120 total
-
you could buy a platform like I have on my boat, it should work on the back of yours (I think I found mine on ebay for $50). OR what I would do is get a piece of starboard and make it fit the shape off to the side of your outboard. then you could attach it using stainless angle. The ladder I have is the easiest I've used but it required some fabrication to make it work. The generic folding ladder is simplest to mount but not as user friendly for boarding.
Whatever you decide for the platform I think I have the step from mine that I'll give you if it will help.

I've searched through the forum a bit and can't quite find an answer. I'm making an enclosed wooden track and want to epoxy coat the entire gun. Should I cut the track and then epoxy coat it and then cut the track again? Will enough epoxy penetrate the wood this way to keep it protected? I'm thinking this will work but am unsure, perhaps I'm overthinking things.

I handled this float the other day at Speardiver HQ and was surprised at the construction. I almost expected it to be like air mattress quality at first but when Dan brought it out for me to see and then hold I was shocked. It has some mass to it the material is thick and reminded me of a white water rafting type tube. The overall construction and material was much better/nicer than one Dan had there from a competitor, perhaps he will chime in on which float it was.

WOW!! look at that fih and look at that water.
me likey
I have a feeling that water is FREEZING, other wise I like it too

I really like that yellow fish although it seems as though it goes against evolution being so bright. I'd imagine they are very easy to see and therefore prey upon.

My masters thesis is actually going to be on the inclusion and exclusion criteria for HMS in the MSFCMA. It's odd to me that Wahoo were never placed into the HMS category. Same with Black Fin Tuna, they are not considered HMS under the MSFCMA but Yellow fin are. It's going to be interesting finding out why this is.
Shallow runner what is the MSFCMA? Also I thought that at one time wahoo were on it. I don't know if there is any way to see if the list changes from year to year or to see what species could have been on it in the past. I would have been willing to bet money that wahoo were on it at some point, but again I'm going strictly from memory. Please post your findings

It's 20 bucks and lasts through the end of the year. You only need it if you are going to do it outside the 3 miles according to the site. I know around here most sailfish are inside 250' of water, marlin however are farther offshore.

Dan and I were talking about this at his house tonight and he asked that I look into it and report my findings. I remember years ago reading that for targeting/catching yellowfin tuna (and other highly migratory species) a special permit was required for the vessel. Well it had been a while and I thought that it included wahoo, but it turns out I was wrong. Here is the list of HMS and the rules regarding their capture (the link to get the permit is on the page):
