That is a 17ft jonboat we go out on when weather permits.
Water temp was 84 on top and a degree or 2 colder on the bottom.

Headed out of Ft. Lauderdale to excellent 100ft vis and pretty flat seas. Saw some nice fish from the surface but couldn't get close enough on some.
My uncle saw this king drifting in 60ft. He shot it with his RA and the fish broke it's spine when it tried to bolt. Since he didn't get full penetration he went down and shot it again with another gun for good measure.
Saw some huge muttons, nice blacks, gags, and yellow jacks but again my uncle was the only one to get a 24 incher mutton.
I gathered some porgies and a hog to make the best of my rotten luck.

Fish of the day for my uncle, I had no luck.

I can't believe that huge black still hangs out there.
Nice job Gerald. Good sized ones. Harry, John and me went out today and had a rough start. We eventually found a honey hole reef line and limited out for 36 lobster in a small area. Most of them came from just one rock
Great weather and not alot of boats around.
There were so many lobster you could catch multiples in one dive using your hands. Harry holds the record for 4 lobster on one dive.

Nice going hau with the sticker, what a bunch of a-holes. Next time get in the boat and bring the yak aboard, then let them turn the yak upside down and shake it really good.

See any antennae?

Aye. HD pockets, Speardiver 90's, forgot stiffness M or MS.
How about a push off the fence by posting some results? Hitting deeper depths without noticing it and pulling up some nice fish.

How deep was the top of wreck?

I only had one real shark encounter. I was diving an area where vis was about 30ft on the top and 50ft on the bottom, 65ft deep. On a dive I saw a big bull come by me with a nice cobia on it. I decided not to shoot the cobia to respect and leave the shark in peace. The shark went on its way, or so I thought.
The grouper where thick and spawning and I had one tear off. As I was loading the gun to go shoot I saw the bullshark on the surface. He kept circling closer and I lunged at it. He disappeared in the vis but came back about minute later, I called the boat over but it was far. He was insistently looking for food. He kept circling me and getting closer to the point that I cut my mono and was about to shoot it. He swam off as the boat approached and I got back in.

Money no object?.....ahhhh the possibilities
It comes down to the sharpening not the knife for me, the stones will probably cost more than the knife. I'd just get it sharpened by a professional every time if I had the money. Why have a expensive knife if you can't sharpen it properly? It's like having a gun without bullets, it will only be good as a conversation piece.

I also noticed the fish gun/ arrow and really nice police truck.
I think I remember another story on the subject, I think the permit costs some money.
Their definition of a firearm is something that can discharge a projectile in excess of a specified amount of energy. BB guns exceed this energy so speargun certainly qualify.

"Pheonix Fusion"
Made some modifications to the Pheonix. I had problems with penetration. The band power was there but the shaft was not seeing it. Shaft would barely penetrate or just tag the skin of big fish at close range. I took an old gun I wasn't going to use anymore and made 1/2" side laminations, hence the fusion. I also decided to go with a thicker 7.5 mm Wong square notch carbon shaft. Also changed the trigger guard, couldn't get used to the original one.
117 cm band stretch
2 5/8" 1/16" ID bands 3.5:1 stretch
145 cm 7.5mm Wong pencil tip carbon shaft
Poseidonsub trigger mech with auto reset new trigger guard
Maorisub Dentex reel w/ 1.2mm linePreliminary results look promising with reef fish. So far the shaft goes completely through the fish and can be heard bouncing on the reef behind it. Now I have to see how it works on some bigger fish. Just need to add some epoxy for a palm swell on the handle and add a floatline attachment or rig it breakaway style.
-
Other option is to drill it and add a doghouse and pins for the bands.
But, I think changing the mech will be alot easier.
-
Good story, and nice bug. With all the fun you had with it I thought you were going to keep it as a pet.
-
I keep it out but put it back in as I near the surface sometimes. Only if, I have to keep an eye on the fish, diving shallow, or if I'm feeling fine air wise.
-
Nice job. Where does all that stuff come from? Hardly any trash around here on the beaches and any trash there is usually has stuff living on or around it.
-
Man, crackheads have the nicest things. You should wait until he sells the boat.

I think I remember the shafts were around $200 each for maco.
