There are some patches like 2nd reef depths and some reef like 3rd reef depth. Never shore dove it so you might find somethings along the way.

I would guess a single flopper tip would do. Depends on how much you want to spend on either a whole new pole or maybe yours can accept new tips.

Most online Florida stores should stock whatever you need. I would call FL freedivers as they have a huge selection and are knowledgeable in polespears due to their proximity to Bahamas.

Another reference would be www.spearfishing.cc for heavy poles or screw on tips.

In my opinion there is not much to a rectangular piece of wood with a handle on it you can make yourself for 3 times less.

This is not the 50's, these manufacturers need to step up like the european wood gun makers and incorporate some research into their guns.

oh really? Cool! What boat were you in? how did you do?

Camo Jon boat. Hard to miss. We were exploring new spots all day, only caught a Mutton and a dog snapper on the first spot.

:notes: Jon Boat soon will be making another run..

    Jon boat..

Wow that was quick! Thanks very much.

Are you using a rubber keeper on your OMER?

    Dan,

Snorkel clip is a snorkel keeper, it just occured to me now.

The OMER soft one I used would bend and wobble as you ascended causing drag and vibration on your head. It is marketed and bendable so I guess scuba divers can put it in a pocket or save a precious cubic inch in your travel bag.

How many people find themselves using the same model of snorkel they started with?

Since the snorkel probably lasts longest of all the gear, unless you have a silicone munching chihuahua, I think people get really, really used to it. Even if it's no good to other people.

My OMER snorkel clip broke so I had to buy a new one in March, I can't stand those soft rubber holders. They didn't have the omer zoom at my local store. They only had the soft tube one, worst invention ever, and the camo one for $40.

I bought the Cressi since it was similar and recommended to me by a friend. So 4 months later I just can't get used to it. Just about every dive it bothers me unless I adapt to it and I had to put my old OMER torn to bits mouthpiece on it. I find it's slowly becoming an OMER snorkel.

On a similar note anyone have an extra OMER snorkel clip they don't want?

That sucks, I found a nice one once never bothered to bring it up since it was pretty big. Got home and found out brand new was over $500.

If you ever do weekend trips I would like to join. Always good to meet new spearos.

its an area somewhere outisde of the second thats much deeper than anything else
around (50ish+ feet)and its all sand with a few intermitent rocks..

I call these spots "nowhere spots" because they are in the middle of nowhere. No one ever goes to them because it is not near the main ledges. So basically it is undisturbed and can hold some nice fish.

My brainer. Don't carry it anymore due to lack of reef fish and mainly drift diving.

I don't like serrated edges because it is harder to sharpen and you have to saw through the thing you are cutting.

Thats a nice looking boat. I'd see if it has trim tabs or invest in some and learn to use it. It can mean the difference between a smooth fast ride or a really bumpy one.

Overheating is probably the water pump or thermostats if it has them. If not then might have corrosion or build up in the water channels in the manifolds if the engine has age.

It's great you're a mechanic, at least you have the tools and related knowledge to do all the work.
