In a specific areas such as where the flats fishermen were complaining about I don't know. But they are numerous and a nuisance in Palm beach. Going from an unregulated trash fish to this is strange.
I haven't lived, dived, fished or spearfished there but from what ive heard in terms of y'all hardly spearing/catching them to eat because of ciguatera, this also seems odd to me. What do they base this on and how long have they monitored this?

Yellow jacks are another member of the jack family that are often overlooked but are good eating, like permit and african pompano.

I also use the bowline to tie reel line to my swivel and ive used it to tie it to my shaft a few times in emergencies too. Its fairly easy to loosen if you just bend the line a lil and push on the loop where the rabbit goes around the tree

Thanks Dan. After many years using it, I guess its the indian, not the arrow so to speak. Its not the best cause im even better with a single flopper but i have the confidence in it to take trailing shots on cuda like that if thats the only opportunity im getting. As for the lobsters, i prefer catching them by hand in case they have eggs i just put them back. If i cant get them by hand, 99% of the time i just leave them.

Had some relatively clear water push in for about a week on the north coast of Trinidad after some terrible vis and cold water most of the trips out and was fortunate to get some shore diving done over a couple days. Not much fish action but it was relaxing to finally have good vis and warm water and just enjoy being in my element. Finally got a manta on video too :D. Did a couple hours editing and made a vid.

Nice King but close call though! How deep were you when you shot it?
-
If the second picture is of "parasites" coming out of the fish, why is it coming out of the man's hand?? Looks like they're(the fish and the hand) just touching the branches of a plant to me

Looks great! What finishes and steps did u use to achieve a paint job of this quality?

Bottom fish can move fast enough to be skewered twice by one spear.
As a rule if you shoot at a fish that's facing you directly, you'll end up with a side shot fish.
Sometimes i think its actually the spear that moved faster. As for fish facing you directly...its only the fast ones that make you end up with a side shot. I use that to my advantage when hunting some of those super quick cuberas we have here. Its always a better shot when you could get them facing/coming at you...unless they teleport :nana: :outtahere:

Having it on the mask, you can use the dive watch to, using the reflection, check if it's recording (assuming you have the LEDs on). For the mask, having a quick release mount, makes it easier to check if everything is OK and to use different POV
I have the Gopro Hero 2 and i just listen to the amount of beeps for its start/stop, on/off or lcd function while under the water to tell me what its doing and that works for me but i dont know if the Hero 3 is the same.

Looks great and should work but what if the plastic bags, bottles etc. detach?....thats just more trash in the sea. We usually use bamboo and coconut branches.

Thanks :). Im using the Standard #5 Baja Plus

Finally got a chance to put together some clips i shot this week...

I had someone here with large feet. His foot measurements were 12" x 4.5". He said he wears shoe size 14-15. If you wear size 14 shoe I don't understand how your actual foot length can be 13"? The omer 46-48 footpockets fit him well.
If you had me there before him you'd be asking him the same question lol. My foot length is what i stated, he probably just prefers to wear much bigger shoes.

hummmmmmm still cant get past loaded guns on a boat moving from spot to spot.... But aint no skin off my back as I will never dive with anyone doing that and justifying it.
You are entitled to your opinion George and there's no loss of respect on my part. We have no problem having guns unloaded just to accommodate you or anyone else. So diving with us shouldnt be a problem because we're not inconsiderate but just know that you WILL HAVE TO get in the water to hunt like the rest of us even though SHARKS are around :D. If you still dont wanna dive with us regardless, no skin off my back either and no love lost. My friends and i just choose to do things different at that point in time and we're quite aware of the dangers and im sure other spearos/people do stuff that is considered dangerous in the minds of others but not necessarily wrong. So to my fellow spearos on here, im quite aware of the danger and thanks for the concern but i'm not gonna get into this point anymore because it will detract from my post and its intentions.

Nice fish and super nice tacos khalel!
A bit scary though, to see that loaded gun in you boat - an accident waiting to happen...
It might look scary but the gun is loaded because we drop off on spots every 5-10mins once we're in the boat. So its a pain to be loading, offloading that often. They're secured by ropes on both ends so they wont slide when the boat is moving with safety engaged and we drive on the starboard side so the gun/s arent in the way or pointing in a dangerous direction. Everyone of us is mindful of the danger and we're very careful and competent. Thanks for the concern though

Of course i cooked it lol. The fish is in the tacos everybody
