darren,
did you order the ikelite case? where, and how much? i have the same camera, and have flooded it twice. (good thing i had the extended warranty.)
I haven't ordered a case yet. Olympus makes one. However, Ikelite has a great reputation. Leisure Pro has the best prices.

Some amazing pictures Darren, what camera do you have going there? Great conditions too, must have been a great dive!
I am using the Olympus 8010 with out a case. It is rated to 33 feet, 14mp and 720hd. I can run it for about 2 hours on a charge. Next month I am going to get a case for it. 80% of the time, I will not be diving past 30feet. The case it added security, and stability. For some reason, I am really shakey with the camera as is. I am hoping that with the bigger case, I will be steadier.

wow, it is so cool the way the enviroment you dive in has so many different things happening so close together...there are few places with rocky reefs and sea grasses together and kelp is just fantasty shit to me
thanks for the awesome pics
Come on out! I will show you some of these spots.

The pile perch look duller. Both the silver and the black stripe are not as vibrant as they are on a sargo. I also think that the pile perch has more of a fat mouth, like other perch.

Mike took a sargo. This place had several schools of big sargo. I agree with John, sargo is good eating!

Dove North Lag today. Long walk, long swim. Get it? It was awesome. The water was really warm, and vis varied from 10 feet to 25 feet. Very little surf or surg. Tons of fish! I ran into lots of good sized calicos, some huge sand bass, a few halibuts, one really big sheep, shit loads of bait, barracudas, and of course that other thing that won't be discussed.
I managed to pull a halibut and 2 sand bass. Mike got 2 sand bass and a sargo. Yes, I out hunted Mike.
I found the hali in about 12 foot of water. I saw a bunch of smaller calicos all playing in the middle of this large sand patch. I dove done to investigate. When I hit the bottom, this hali was just sitting there. I backed up to take the shot. It was then that I realized I have never shot this gun before. I have no idea how it shots. I figure, hell, it is a Wong. Sure enough the shaft hit right where I wanted it to. The gun is super. I took the sand bass in the picture for a decent range. Nailed him right in the head. The other sandie went home with Mike to help feed the roommates.
Great dive! I hope the conditions hold.

Don, I was just at J&J. They still have a really nice display of Bottom Scratcher gear.
I'll be there on the 11th.

I want to line up a trip with Capt Leo on Sept 23rd. Leave out of O'side early, come back around 8. Dive SCI. Possibility of hitting a paddy or two on the way out.
$225 plus tip to deckhand.
I need to have a firm commitment for this. If you back out you will either need to find a GOOD replacement or buck up and pay for your share.
We need 4 more divers.
Thanks,
Darren

Leo has a boat out of Oceanside. A 32 foot Radon. He has been fishing these waters for many years. He is a very nice guy and his charters are first rate. Plus he is always the first guy to step up and donate a spot or his whole boat to a worthy cause.
