I'm also becoming a big fan of stretching. I haven't been diving yet in Phuket but we have a community swimming pool that I take the kids to everyday. I've been doing some laps and man, getting out of bed the next morning....whooaaaa. It takes me about 5 minutes to where I can get limber enough to bend and touch my toes....without bending my knees. And core exercise....I would really like to try Yoga with someone who knows what they're doing.
    And dive again....

And Jerry Lopez was my hero when I was learning to surf in Hawaii back in the late 70s. Pictures of him deep in the barrel at Pipe, standing almost straight up, shrugging his hands like...."eh....just another barrel...". haha. Unreal

And virgili !!! Nice cubera !!! Wow !!

Right on Hank! Thanks for posting.

And then there are the benefits of having kids that dive...
    1) It's a great excuse for spending your $$ on dive and spear gear, and fishing trips
    2) More fish in your cooler

Yep. But remember to teach them to drive the boat too. haha. Otherwise you're quickly relegated to captain and are retired from diving....."dad, drop us in the channel and pick us up inside....the current is strong...".

I could post a few pics. The "Fricken' Jake" thread pretty much says it all for me. I have three sons that dive. And a fourth is starting.
This one covers my three, and sons of two good friends of mine. We all got out one day a couple years ago. The one standing on the right is the son of the guy who started teaching me to surf back in 1977. Jon, on the left, is the son of another friend here in Belize. And then there's Jake, Mo (here in Thailand with us now) and Tino. Both of them shoot fish at over 60 feet now. Yep

Looks like I'll be working on Lombok. I'll scope it out and let you know. Should be going there in a few weeks. It's just east of Bali. Yep

A guy in Hawaii, Pete, is 82 and diving 3 times a week. Has a 5 minute static breath hold. One of Daryl Wong's buddies.
My buddy Andre is 77. He'd be out there every week but now that I'm gone, he doesn't have a buddy with a boat.

Unreal Makoa. Sounds like a great trip. Jon would be my go to person as far as where to go etc etc.

I was just in Kona and drove the Saddle road. Never had seen M Kea and M Loa at the same time like that, both with snow on top.

    Have a great trip !!

    Hey Hank,

Thanks! 100 feet is a lofty goal..maybe we can connect on some diving..Heading towards South Point tomorrow..

I'm leaving tomorrow for Oahu and on to Thailand. My son is here in Kona. He works for SIS shrimp breeding company near the airport. He's a member on here. Jake....or "Fricken' Jake" as he's fondly known. haha. He's got a wife and young daughter but he keeps telling me he's looking for a steady dive ....and surf buddy. I'll tell him to contact you.

Dude George would love that kelp looking, shredding wetsuit that lady is wearing on the bottom. That's some serious for white sea bass hunters. I want one....ML, tall.

Nice fish. Big fish are fun and exciting, but there's a lot of satisfaction in getting a wily dog snapper, or mutton, or even a small porgey. These take hunting skills and patience.

I bought a couple small helicopters for the boys. They crash and bust them up within a few days. Cool toys though.

I have a friend who is doing the drone thing for real estate. As I recall, she needed a drone license to fly the thing? Is that US law now?

Yep, it's a lot cheaper than Belize. I spent 11 years in the Philippines, 2 years in Malaysia and 17 years here in Belize. (plus 9 in Hawaii). I was getting a little restless here thinking, "this is it? No more adventures". This Thai thing is going to be good. I have a couple good friends in the same business there too. They don't spearfish though....

Oh, one thing - do bring all guns and bits and bobs you need for spearing. Unless things changed, there's not much there and import duties can be pretty horrendous and tedious. Luckily, it is a prime tourist destination so it's often not too difficult having friends bring stuff from US or Europe. No issues in airports with spearing gear either.
But I guess you are used to thinking a bit ahead with your lifestyle:-)

Already packed shooting line, crimps, crimper, extra shafts. That should be good for a couple years....unless I ruin a few shafts....but that would be a good problem...:thumbsup2:

Very likely (almost) as much as in Florida;-)
Starbucks, too. Well, probably even better small coffee shops run by Thai hipsters on fixie bikes;-)

Starbucks, 7-Elevens on every corner, KFC, MacDonalds, and something I'd never had before....Roaming internet. If you leave your phone on Cellular Roaming here, you will suck up all your prepaid phone credit in about 2 days. But in Thailand (and Vietnam for that matter) I could be riding in a car a do Skype, Facebook...whatever. And it's cheap compared to here.
And my kids will be in a really good school. They have two pools, and a fricken' skateboard ramp !! Great food. Yep
