This really makes me want to go down to Baja!
Makes me want to go BACK to Baja!
-
Ha, I had to go back too and watch for the shot. Well done man; nice kill.
The shot is at .5 speed too. I just slowed it down enough for you to see it go down, but not worth going any slower than that.

awesome!! i was a little suprised the shot came so quickly in the vid i didnt see it the first time and thought you found a speared fish...and I am an idiot
great shot. i love to be able to hold the spear and gills with the same hand
Yeah, the fish was shallow and in surgy water. I already came close to it once to identify it and couldn't get any closer with my big gun (120cm) without bending my shaft or breaking my wrist. I was hunting bigger fish deeper and got bored. I looked around for an hour and found this guy.

My latest video. Enjoy. Not the best, but I'm working on it. I need some better conditions;)

cool vid and nice breath hold but that water looks super spooky to me!
There were times for sure when it sort of became spooky to me too. In the murk and mid water column after laying on the bottom at 65ft ascendiing, trying to stay focused and calm bothered me less than it would some. It's sort of always in your head "the fear" or maybe nervousness. When you get done doing things in life like this trip it makes you feel good. Epic trip for me even though the guys that went with me said conditions were far from great.

Here's a quick vid of some of my favorite drops while down in Baja recently. Nothing too special I guess, but a really nice couple of dives for me that I felt compelled to put together.

Drama, drama, drama:) Wait, I come here to steer clear of that.
-
I didn't see the YT. Nice video though. What time are the in the video?

Spectacular. I would have cut her loose...
I doubt I would have done the same for a pricey Alaska trip. Depending on what else I caught I guess, but Alaskan Halibut for a year doesn't sound too bad...
Congrats on a massive fish!!
-
Damn Ron, I didn't realize how big that thing was! Congrats!

What a prick you are:) Thanks for the writeup. I love seeing these beatiful fish swimming by. Also, I know what it's like seeing a line of sargo and thinking they're a cbass.
-
Thanks for the report. At least you saw some fish from the boat. It's always a good way to start you day seeing them when you first pull up.
-
Sigh, you have kids and you are still killing it Ben. Way to go!
Haha, I don't want to hear it from you dude. I came home empty handed again yesterday, but a sighting makes me happy.

Awesome Ben! I've been so tied up in school and sports this year that I've only had time to hunt seabass twice! It's killing me to have to sit here and see reports like this.
Hang in there Zach and your time will come. One day you'll have plenty of free time. Oh, don't ever get married and you will that is.

Hey Ben, did you get her with that new Herranen gun?
I did! It's taken a few or so for me so far;)
You remember how bulky my gun is and of course by request? Well, even though it doesn't swing like a hybrid for a gun that shoots with that much power it simply makes a blump sound in the softest of ways and almost no recoil with 4 bands. One handed shots with big guns are always fun and it was a first for me at this angle shooting it between the eyes. Well, a little behind the eyes but you know.

Couple of toads right there! Nicely done fellas!!!!!!!
