Have to bump this insanely clever way to get a belt reel for a quarter of the price. Can't wait to rig my own up!

Thank you for your kind words brother.
You can even hook this belt reel on your float (if you can catch the float as it wizzs past you :) )
Hope this set-up works as good for you as it has for me. :toast2:

So funny to hear you say that ______ :D I remember when you asked the same question, so cool to see your progression to where you know what you are talking about! :thumbsup2: :cool2:

Insert many/any name on the line above. :)
Helping others is a nice feeling. Teamwork==all of us AGAINST those slimy fish. :attack1::fishswim:

makoa--sorry for the late entry to your thread. In an effort to help with your conversion project I would like to suggest what I did years ago when I converted a 120 RA Tuna (with an ET) to a roller. Anchoring the bottom of the roller bands is easily done on the RA and your Aimrite looks like it could be just as easy. Please to look at the handle/barrel anchoring screws on the RA. There are 2 screws on opposing sides of the barrel that attaches the barrel to the handle. I simply removed those two screws, took a drill and drilled all the way through one side of the barrel, through the handle and out the other side of the barrel where the other screw hole was. I bought a SS bolt that was long enough to go all the way through the barrel and leave enough on the head and nut end to hook the bottom end of the roller band to. Done
Want to be able to adjust your bottom band length? Just make the loops on the bottom bands 6''or whatever long and tie a knot 1inch from the end of the rubber. Now you can hook each bottom band on said bolt at the end of the loop OR at the 1" knot.
Hope this is clear enough to be helpful

flatseas--welcome to THE best freedive spearfishing forum. Hope you enjoy your spearing career as much as I have.
Don't worry about impressing anyone here. What impresses many of us most, is your love and respect for the underwater world and spearing.
    Welcome :toast:

    Agreed :toast:

I'm putting in an order for 50ft of rubber now. Once Dan gets my order, that rubber will be here on the other side of the world to Guam in a week. :thumbsup2:

Guess what I got in the mail this morning? :yay: Thank you Dan, my order was perfect (as usual) :toast2:
Chase and Canis---thank you for doing the math. I appreciate your time and efforts.
I went to 3--14mm, small ID short bands cause I am old and weak and wanted a band setup that I could easily load all day that would take down fish at the end of my 2 wrap shooting line. My 7mmX147cm spears hit the end of the 2 wrap so fast that Ive had to switch to Speardiver reels that have bigger axels.

    hau saying--"fish r gonna die"

Get the 14mm small id. Lots of power and very good stretch.

    Agreed :thumbsup5:

I now have Dans 14mm small ID on ALL my guns and love that setup. If a slotted gun muzzle is made for 2 16mm band you can easily get 3 14mm bands in there. My guns are all have 3 or 4 14mm small ID bands and I love the increased power, more progressive recoil and versatility of this setup. I swim around with all bands loaded all the way back on the last tab, ready for that big one to swim by. If I see a small reef fish on the bottom I can easily and quickly unhook a band or two, drop on the fish and shoot at close range or against the reef with one band without worrying about damaging my spear.
I am not good at math, but my CURRENT favorite gun has a 51inch band stretch and my 3 14mm bands are cut to 24inch with 2inch wishbones. Not sure what percentage stretch that works out to.

Check out The Freedive Store. Dan has some of the best speargun rubber that I've come across so far. Reasonably priced as well.

I have never had a problem buying the HIGHEST quality rubbers.
BECAUSE I have been buying ALL my rubbers from Freedivestore.com
Freedivrstore.com has had small ID rubbers for YEARS.
You want good service? Call Dan

Sir Dude george--IMO the best way to prove the cause of your band / line wraps is to attach your GoPro to the rear of your gun. Next time you are shooting and you get a band wrap just down load your Gopro and play it back slow.
    Hope this helps

Other day we had a spearo jump in right on top of a 300lb+ plagic fish. The fish swing out, circled back I towards the spearo who was able to get a connecting hit on the fish. In a flash the 2ATM Riffe float was zinging towards the spearo and I yelled "watch out for the float, watch out for the float". The spearo back peddled JUST as the float barely missed him. Good thing as we spent the next hour driving in a search pattern an NEVER saw float/line/spear again.
Using floats AND/Or reels have very real AND inherent dangers. Know those dangers and practice your escape.
    Thanks for sharing Steven

    Nickmal--love your new boat captain.
Maybe someday I can take a short flight and beg a ride out with you.
Good luck and keep us posted sir

Hello to all my brothers here. :)
As sdeisen said, I am here in the paradise of Guam, primarily doing triathlons and running events. :D
I am working for the Navy full time. I do my triathlon and marathon training and open sea mile swim every day and still get into the perfect Pacific waters to spear now and then. I would like to spear more but there is never enough hours in the day. Working is beginning to take up too much of my spearing time, so I may need to retire in the next couple of years so I can spear more:rolleyes1: I love to spear and love the ocean and all in the sea. I enjoy the perfect warm weather with blue skies and clear blue seas we have here on Guam. I love the bikini girls in the sun and the ladies of the night. (Hank, I even have a seniors discount at a couple strip joints down the street ) You are correct Oscar, it may be VERY hard to leave all of this to go back to Miami. I miss going to see Dan at the store every month or two.
I miss my old friends and look for anything that Don Paul might post. I hope all is well with him and hope he returns to us. He is such a huge legend to our sport and way of life.
Marco-- I read every one of your posts and smile while reading about you spearing with your boys. I envy you sir. Thanks for thinking of me and Don Paul.
I still come here several times a week and reading everything my brothers write.
