I use walmart socks. 10pack will last me the year :D If you need neoprene socks, the spetton 3mm open cell socks were the best dive socks I've ever worn. but unfortunately, they were too thick for diving in the Caribbean.

We get massive Pompanos in Grenada, the really big ones are up Grenville way but I have shot truly big ones in the caves off of the windward beaches in Westerhal, I could tell ya where those caves are but then I would have to shoot you :laughing3:

Lol this one was shot in 20' of water around the Westerhall area. Wicked current tho. I would love to come to Antigua and shoot fish with you man, but my schedule is piling up the closer I get to becoming a real doctor lol. Maybe during my 3rd term around July-August I will try to make a trip up to see you, or down to Trini if our friend is still down there.

FB13-020: NOAA Fisheries Seeks Comments on Proposed Actions for Red Snapper in the South Atlantic - Comment Period Ends May 13, 2013

    The long and short:

If a red snapper season is allowed, Amendment 28 proposes the following measures for the recreational sector:
Opening date of second Friday in July. The season would only consist of weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The end date would be announced at the same time the opening day is announced.
Elimination of the current 20 inch minimum size limit during the fishing season.
A recreational bag limit of one fish per person per day.

So, because the stocks are apparently at 'critical levels' they're getting rid of the minimum size limit? This is ridiculous!

Haha I miss summertime in FL and having to fight sharks so maybe it will keep things interesting. I still have yet to see a real shark here in GND. Idk if I told you, but a friend of mine shot at 20lb African Pompano here the other day. It was pretty sweet!! There was another one with it, and he said he almost had time to fight the first one, string it, and shoot the 2nd one! lol

Nice George! Today was the first calm day in 3 weeks that weve had when the wind hasn't blown over 20knts. But that north swell is kicking up some nice waves around the souse I hear! Miss diving with you man! I'm trying to talk Alan in to an overnight trip to Reindeer Shoals when the winds calm down later in April. But in the mean time, we will be throwing flashers and chum by the souse hoping for another wahoo to come in on us! Or better yet, a Sailfish!

Rick is a good buddy of mine down in the keys and one hell of a fisherman, haven't had the chance to go spearing with him just yet but we have known each other for a while on dry land mainly because he doesn't know how to stop breaking his cellphone.

He was one of the guys onboard with john paul (castronova) when a massive whale shark came up to the reef. Just look for the real ugly guy in the pic, thats rick!! Not only was it a once in a lifetime experience to swim with it, but then these assholes then proceeded to slay a massive school of cobia that was following the shark. :laughing3:Anyways, back on topic.

Rick you will like this place, it does lack one thing tho....and that's DRAMA. Glad you joined. There is a lot of good useful, unbiased, unedited information on here.

Thank you sir. Here are the ones I made a while ago since I'm on the subject. I got a Mylar space blanket and cut out a bunch of fish shapes. I then got super clear packing tape with the sticky side up and laid the fish on it. With another layer of tape (sticky side down) I was able to make long strips of clear sandwiched tape with shiny fish inside. I made 4 strips and each has a different number of Mylar shapes. When deployed, it literally looks like a big school of bait.

Some of the flashers only have tape on one side, and looks black in the photo. However, the tape is reflective on both top and bottom.Since it is just polarized film It still flashes on both sides, but is a slightly different shade. Looks real nice !:D

Got bored from all this wind we are having down in the keys and decided to build some home made flashers. I had some linear polarizing film left over from when i was making lenses for the go pro and its been sitting in a box ever since. Its a thin plastic sheet thats pretty stiff but can be bent and retain its shape. I cut a 4 inch strip of the plastic and laid two strips of 2inch flasher tape side by side to cover the outside.
I cut the larger strip into triangles and was left over with 6 of these

I cut a second 2 inch long strip and added tape for a smaller sized flasher and cut it into triangles. I drilled a hole in the top center and bottom center to allow for the ring and swivels and was left over with a pile of shiny triangles. I bent the bottom corners to make the twist and attached them all together in one way or another.

Pretty self-explanatory, and hopefully they will do well. Its supposed to calm down at the end of the week and i hope to test them then.

You misunderstood me, I wasn't upset or irritated by any means, given the history of spear board and this site, I was slightly amused there was a link up. However, since it was a post about a gun and not the usual SB nonsense I can understand why it was left up.

I Freedive with m yKoah and i also think it's perfectly balanced. I have a nice Wong and a modded Mares Sten that I use regularly also, so it doesn't get used as much as I like. I let my buddy Mark use this a the P-tower in the keys a little while ago and he shot this AJ and stoned it.
    .

I think it was funny that my thread on spear board was quoted and brought up on this site. I chose the Koah becuause I was needing a larger gun and didn't want to be like the rest of the world and buy a riffe. For less then 100 bucks more then a e130 I got a custom gun, built exactly as I wanted. and best of all, I felt a sense of individualism with it. I'm more then happy with my decision and I know that won't change.

Pneumatic guns are DEF quieter then a band gun, they track in the waer easier, next to no recoil and can have an insane amount of power. I have a modified sten 133 and it almost my favorite gun in my arsenal. They are like taboo to most people. Mainly because the average person doesnt understand how they work and prefer to stick with what they know.

Hybrids are neat guns unless you overpower them. There is no way an hybrid could handle more then 2 rubbers in 16 mm which is the best set up for them, even the magnums. If you are considering getting one, rig it with two 16 mm rubbers and a 7,5 mm shaft. Hell even two 14 mm rubbers are a better compromise for them. You`ll end up getting the best of your set up and you`ll totally love`em. Great semi custom guns with very nice craftmanship. Wood measurement differences are marginal in this respect- I would recommend a regular hybrid and spend the extra money in a nice slip tip.

    Regards

My 60 gr plus has 3 bands on it and it has no issues firing. It takes out a double wrap of mono out and yanks the floatline about 4 or 5 feet out. Shoots dead on.

Ill try and take some measurements when i get home today. Its monday night, and i usually go get drunk and play bingo at the KOA so it might have to wait till later. There is a big difference between the GR and the reef gun. So you should probably tell us what kind and size gun you plan on making so we can help out. Thanks
