That will work just fine mate.
It's a shame here in the US we live in such a litigation prone society, I have become too paranoid about posting my personal details about gun trigger mods and fabrication in this day and age.
The devil is in the details as the power goes up on a gun, I like your approach thus far

• Dan , i forgot to ask , seeing that i am making my own handle , i want to follow how you did yours [ mortise ] . What thickness board did you use to make your mortise handle and did it last [ strong ].

• hi guys , i just spoke to my dad and he told me the speargun he used in the 80's was the longest available Mares Nimrod pneumatic , because of the use of this gun he swears by pneumatic spearguns because he said the Nimrod was the quietest speargun compaired to band guns . was this speargun particularly quiet [ compared to a Riffe standard ] just to settle the discussion because online guys always say the band guns a quieter . :confused1:

The Bazooka was the longest Mares in 80, the shot is more quite then a Riffe, but the slide ring slapping the shaft is not. The Mares rear handle 140cm was very quite with a plastic and spring slide ring.

• thanks Don , my dad did say that the band guns that he said was loud was the Champion aluminium closed muzzle guns with a metal wishbone that his brother [ my uncle] used and '' extended'' with aluminium tubing , by the way we spoke to a dive shop and they said the champion speargun design is now used by Beuchat .

• Pneumatic guns are DEF quieter then a band gun, they track in the waer easier, next to no recoil and can have an insane amount of power. I have a modified sten 133 and it almost my favorite gun in my arsenal. They are like taboo to most people. Mainly because the average person doesnt understand how they work and prefer to stick with what they know.

• yeh guys did some work on the build today . i am about 85% done i have to install all the hardware like the line anchor [ by the way i am going to use a separate line release that uses the shaft to engage it , can you tell me what you call that type of release , so i can find some exaples ] . so far i have mounted the trigger mech , did all the routing [ i love my router ] , mounted a handle mock up out of pitch pine because my supplier ran out of teak , waiting for him to get more , i also welding on the shark fins drilled the hole for the shooting line and cut the notch on the spear . Later in the week i will buy some supplies for the bands , flopper , line release , trigger guard and shooting line .almost done can't wait to get in the water . [ buy the way do you guys know any the sealant for purple heart . ] thanks .

• Thanks Lunker , guys forgot to say that it is 33 1/2 inches from the band grove to the closest shark fin . i plan on using 3 9/16 bands or i may go to 3 5/8 bands depends on what i can get locally , the shaft is 5/16 x 56 '' from notch to tip , followed the 13'' over hang rule , what do you guys think is best 9/16 or 5/8 for general reef hunting . thanks .
