This is a late report. Pantoja, Alan and myself encountered unpleasant conditions. Water was cold, the vis was poor, and at some point the seas built up to 3-5. The good thing is that the rib handled everything well. It was possible to make good time on the way back once I found the speed that would keep us on the plane but not bounce too hard over the tops of the waves. I dove very little as after the first spot I was blowing bloody snot out of my nose. Pantoja managed a nice yellow jack and Alan a hog or two. At the very end I took home two barracudas. Pantoja also shot a big chub, maybe the biggest I've ever seen. When asked why he shot it he replied "it was big" We should've weighed it, would've been a forum record.

Nice catch.

Nice catch. Those chubs we call 'em "Chopa mierdera" in Venezuela. I've never tried 'em. Are they good eating? Maybe is just misunderstood like barracuda? I mean, barracuda stinks when you are cleaning it, but the meat is just great.
-
Sergio says they're the same as a spade fish. It's been a very long time since I shot a chub so I can't remember the reasons, but at the time I remember deciding to not shoot them again. The stomach lining is black which is a turnoff, and the guts stink. I'm not sure but I think the meat is greyish in color when cooked.

I'm still deciding......... i shot it because it was biiggggg.

nice report, thanks for sharing, glad the RIB is keeping you happy..what did you end up deciding for the anchor issue? I remember the quick release you found, but how did you attach it all
-
I got rings braided into the anchor line at approx 30ft intervals which the quick release snap gets attached to. The quick release snap and line are attached to the bow eye, I believe the nautical term for it is painter.
-
nice, can you operate it from in the boat or do you have to be in the water to anchor?
-
It's not reasonable to have to get in the water to anchor a boat. It's heavier than a kayak.

At the end of the day... Did you eat it or not? Habla cabrón!:fishhit:

i figured that was the case, I am just having a tough time understanding how exactly you got it to work, you'll just have to show me one day when I join you on the RIB...have you decided on a name yet? I know that is not your strength
