Looking for some Euro Gun advice

  • What kind of balance do you look for? Do you expect a carbon gun to be balanced the way you like out of the box or will you add ballast if necessary?

I'd rather have it slightly negative. Don't mind tweaking it. In fact, adjustable ballast is a great idea... since there's a ton of difference between a 6.6, 7, & 7.5mm shaft.

My first carbon railgun (not carbon euro) was a RA 160cm CF Saracean - thing floated like a cork with the shaft in! :D

  • How do you distribute the ballast?

My gun has pods with 3/16 ports in fore and aft chambers. I can trim it to the shaft and power I'm using.
You can see the SS port screws aft of the lower chamber.

  • Don, that picture annoys me because your camo on the gun is too good and it makes hard to see, especially exacly what is happening in the handle/reel assembly :D

I'm refinishing the gun with Phil Herranen top coat resin, along with my laminate gun (tiputi).
when it's done I'll post more images in the Double Trouble thread.

  • I borrowed a 130. Will do some testing when the conditions improve. Hopefully the fish will cooperate.

What 130 Mike? I hear ya on conditions, I'm making some shafts for my airgun and sliptip.
Went out two days ago to try to trim the balance and couldn't see the tip when I extended.:rolleyes1:
    R+D in mud sucks...
