torn OMER footpocket question

  • So my OMER footpocket tore again. This is the second time it's happened, but I love these footpockets and would like to stick with them. Normally I see tears in the top of the heel, or the top of the arch. This time, the footpocket tore underneath the heal, right next to the OMER stamp.

Does anybody know how their customer service is and whether they would be willing to reimburse me with a new one?

In lieu of that, does anybody sell single footpockets?

    Thanks for your help!

  • The pocket tearing under the heel is probably the back of the blade pushing through the rubber. The pocket could be under warranty depending on how long ago you bought it and from who. I have a couple of pairs of 42-44 omer millenium pockets if that's your size. Let me know if you're interested info@pursuitspearfishing.com

  • Thanks Dan. I forgot to mention I'm a 44-46 size so your pockets won't work unfortunately.

The tear is not where the blade ends (in the pocket), but that's the only reason I could come up with the pocket tearing. I use DiveR blades and the angle on the blade is so extreme, it probably puts way more pressure on my pocket than the other blades I use.

I doubt the pockets are under warrenty, but I'll check it out. Thanks

  • One other thing in the interest of saving yourself some cash. I find that the H Dessault pocket is very similar to the omer in terms of fit and how much stiffness it adds to the blade. I do have H Dessault in 44-46 and will sell singly. I admit it's a little strange diving with two different pockets but they really are very similar. Besides your other omer pocket is probably on its way to tearing too, when it does you can get a 2nd H Dessault pocket. BTW I don't like the DiveR blades, they're too heavy and the angle.. well have a read http://spearfishing.world/fins…er-edge-and-waterway.html Anyways if you're set on another omer pocket please disregard my rambling.

PS. I don't know how old your omer pockets are, I'm assuming they're the older milleniums, the omer pockets of the new production I believe are now coming with a much stiffer sole and tendons, maybe to correct that very problem that you experienced. If since the last time I checked omer is still producing these stiffer pockets and you buy one of them, guaranteed your fins will not match, the one with the new pocket will be significantly stiffer. On the other hand the H Dessault is very similar to the old omer millenium, and I haven't heard of them tearing yet. Here's a pic of the new omer milleniums, the shiny/glossy surface of the tendons and sole is what gives them away, it's more plastic like than rubber.

  • I have a pair that is beat up - one pocket started to tear up at the rail, the other one is perfect. I glued the rail and seems to hold fine, but the pockets are too narrow for my duck feet. You can have them both for $30 plus shipping. They are not new, but if you have the habit of breaking them having a spare or two is a good idea. Let me know if you're interested and I'll take some picture so that you can better asses the damage on the glued one and the overall shape.
