Hey guys and gals..
I am a spearfisherman of 2 years and a rod & reel fisherman of 4 years. I love the ocean as do many of you and my only regret is not exposing myself to her earlier in my lifetime.
When I started spearfishing, I merely kicked around in the water as my friends speared fish (FG polespears). I didn't know if I would enjoy the sport. I was just a snorkeler. As I swam around the rocks and reefs I felt a strong pull in my chest. It felt as if this is where I'm supposed to be and I fell in love with her..
I started out as many others started out... cheap gear. I had board shorts and a rash guard, and the $40 snorkeling package at a local sporting goods store. Looking back to that, if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. I learned a lot about the importance of quality gear.
I am a polespear'er for two reasons.
(1) The polespear is enough for my needs as I fish reefs/jetties.
(2) I am too poor a college boy to afford/maintain a gun.
I fish around the San Diego North County coastline, but for now my car is broke down and I spend the time that I should be in the water on reading reports and watching spearfish/freedive videos.
Sorry for the long Intro :boring1:, I suck at writing, no one here knows me and I usually lurk the forums. :rolleyes1:
Ask me anything... :thumbsup2:
