Public heaings, fishing laws,Nuevas leyes de pesca.

  • I'm letting it be known that Asesino will no longer be participating in this forum. He did not comply with my request to edit his posts, and I had to do it. I let it slide as I have no ego in this, my only concern was that he understand why it was necessary and not do it again. Today I had a private conversation with him which defined for me that he will never change his line, and as such I refuse to provide him with the opportunity to be heard.

For those who are biased on this issue because Asesino is an accomplished spearfisher and/or a friend, consider the following. It is not a matter of who's a better guy; Asesino, Roberto, Pucho, etc. It's simply a matter of certain things that should not be said publicly, because whether true or not they damage the image of spearfishing, and give proofs/tools to the people who are trying to make rules to restrict and even ban spearfishing altogether. Asesino is adamant with his public "exposing" here, and apparently with other ways available to him in Puerto Rico, and refuses to understand that he's hurting everybody who wants to continue being able to spearfish, whether commercial or recreational.

This has been a hard decision for me to make, because I recognize that I've been put in a similar position myself. As a newcomer to the spearfishing scene I didn't understand why posting a question on a forum such as; what is the best way to put measuring marks on a speargun? Is better left unasked. And more recently retaliating to poaching accusations directed at myself with picture of the my defamer with fish that shouldn't have been taken. In my defense I am by nature a person that stays away from politics, and go as long as I can without having to educate myself about the issues at hand. However being in the position of running this forum, like it or not I am exposed to the politics. For example some time ago I have been shown an email, from a person with the authority to promote laws against spearfishing, containing copies of posts from SB to support his position, and those posts were mild compared to Asesino's. So I learned.

By contrast Asesino is much more involved in spearfishing politics in Puerto Rico, and as such should know better. Also it has been explained to him in as clear a manner as possible by me. His position remains unshakable. It is my conclusion, based on Asesino's posts here and things told to me directly, irrespective of the fact that Asesino is a good spearfisher, and a good friend to his friends, that he is dangerous to spearfishing in Puerto Rico.

This post has has value in that it explains somewhat to those ignorant of these issues, why we must be responsible when we post. Unfortunately it is not possible to be less vague about this, because then it would have the very effect we are trying to avoid.

Lastly, Core, Marco, I'm sorry I had to do this.

  • While PR and it's local divers are far removed from any knowledge I have on spearfishing laws. I support our skippers (Dan') action in this difficult decision, for I believe he gave it much consideration.

  • he is really a good humble person....im no taking sides here....just letting you guys know he helps new spearfishers a lot...the puerto rico section will never be the same without his insane pics of big mother f*ckin fish...he even gave me his phone number without even knowing me just to help me understand spearfishing..its just sad how this thread ends...these are my boricua brothers...my family...pero esto es asi cuando joden con la habichuelas d uno como uno dice por aca....he gave a lot of life to this forum and the others too..we must unite and battle against this corrupt government and save the thing we love most....spearfishing....im willin to go to all these reunions...you r not alone brothers..peace....

  • he is veeery selective in his catches....enough said....i want to be a comercial spearfiherman...him and tinu are the best around here...they gave me a lot of advice and teach me a lot..why do you kill fish? if you dont eat them what do you do with them?...

  • Again, I'm sorry with the outcome of this thread, but I agree with Dan. We should all row in the same direction and if it happens to have personal issues with others, they should be cleared (or not) privately and not in a public forum.

These kind of accusations don't benefit our comunity.

I will try to keep PR section alive with my tiny catches (compared to others) and hope that Rodolfo can come back here again to keep sharing with us. He's a good guy, just a little "volatile", but a good guy.

Last but not least, I have never met such a "spearfishing machine" as Rodolfo. His catches are consistently amazing. Is able to take (good) fish when no one have seen a fin. Hope to have you back here bro.

  • its bad news to hear that asesino is not allowed on this forum anymore.
i hope this decision have not been made in a rush , while this thread was turning very emotional. probably a little patience to let the situation cool down to see if people come back to their senses would have been an option?
but just to make make this clear, i do understand and accept dan"s decision.
the personal accusing of other spearfishers wrongdoings (right or wrong) in a public forum and specially this forum, is not acceptable. as i believe a world wide known rule:
wash your dirty cloth at home ! asesino, you should know better.
but obviously there are some issues concerning the different views or opinions on spearfishing between some recreational and commercial spearfishers.
and to me these can be discussed, and since this is a freedivingspearfishing-forum with recreational and commercial spearfisher-members, this sure is the place to do so.
of course this should be done with respect and care, because in the end we all want to continue spearfishing to the max.
living the life of a comercial spearfisher is not easy.
you will develop your very own views and opinions at what you do.
the much respect and apreciation you will get from other spearfishers ,
the much critics and rejection you will get from others.
i just hope asesinos ban in this forum had nothing to do with telling his opinion on these issues.
i do hope that dan has left him the backdoor open to come back here, and i hope asesino will do what is requested to open that door again.
    respect bro !
